    Thermostat troubleshooting 1972/351c

Angryman, after reading both of your posts My guess is that your missing the restrictor plate and have the wrong or stuck stat. Without the plate and proper stat for the C engine, your temp guage will not show what the temp is untill it starts running hot. Look at the pic 2+2Gt supplied...

    drilling through carpet

I have found the best way to locate and make screw/bolt holes thru the carpet and such, Is using a cotterpin tool to locate the hole center. Then a hot soldering iron to make a neat hole thru the carpet and underlayment. I have used it for screws to seatbelt bolts with great results.

I'm running a Mallory duel point mech adv. Not into elect crap that drops off at will. I installed a MSD streetfire box 2 months ago, got 20 mile on it and it took a dump. Yanked it out and it runs just fine with the old school point system. If your coil fried, it may have done in...

getting hot at stop lights and when shut off

You must use correct thermostat WITH the brass restrictor plate installed or you will have high temp issues. Not having the plate below the thermostat will cause your temp problems and coolant flow issues because the coolant is not forced to go into the rad for cooling, But returned into the block.

    1970 Mach1 Ignition Problems?

Most common problem when installing aftermarket ign is loss of power to coil in keyed start position. When you run a wire to ign switch for bypassing the inline resistor wire you end up dropping off the lead from the starter sol I post. Now you have a cranks and won't start problem. Simple...

    vapor lock help!!!

Check or replace the 3 rubber fuel lines to insure they are not cracked or loose clamps allowing air in. 1. At the tank 2. Under the drivers side floor 3. From the fuel line to pump If they are all new, its possable that the tank screen s collecting enough crap to starve the flow to the carb.

    Car died on freeway

Simplest way to isolate the problem is to install the old point style dist and see if it runs. I installed a brand new StreetFire ign box and drove it for 20 miles, parked it and it wouldn't restart. After testing, the box had went bad. Removed it and rewired to orig point system and it runs...

cleveland builders and gurus please help

Yes it is street driven and I don't have any problems pulling off from a stoplight or start her rolling with the alum flywheel. I did have a 750DP on it for a while, But the 750VS is better for keeping it streetable. With the Dp'er if I went more than halfway on the gas petal it would start the...

Not starting - No power to coil

Placing a ground wire on the -side of the coil kills the spark. Having a ground wire from the block to the firewall IS important, it helps keep the guages reading correctly and other things working. Your problem sounds like its missing voltage when in start mode with the key. Start by using...
