    Headlights turn off while driving

I got a relay kit from http://www.modernvintageauto.com/index_files/page0006.htm Very good quality kit, plug and play install. $40 on the web page but I got it for $30 since I'm a member at Vintage Mustang Forum. Shipping was $12. For the price of the kit, I would not consider DIY.

    compression ratio??

My original calc did not include the valve relief. With a 5 cc valve relief the compression drops to 9.1. The valve relief was not mentioned in the first post, so I left it out. I'm suprised with how much it affects compression ratio.

Monte Carlo bar or no Monte Carlo bar?

I'm trying to think why he would say this. The only thing I can come up with is that if you installed a MC bar on a car with sagging towers and did not realign, there could be enough change in alignment to cause tire wear. The shock tower holds the mounting points for the upper control arm...

    compression ratio??

Compression ratio = Compressed volume/(compressed volume + swept volume) Compressed volume = head + gasket thickness + "piston position" head = 58 cc = 3.54 ci gasket thickness volume = T*pi*(d/2)^2 = 0.04*3.14*(4.03/2)^2 = 0.51 ci Assumed 0.04" thickness "piston position volume" = same as...

    Suggestions about paint and prep

For red paint, the materials, including primers etc, could well be over $2000. I just saw a post were a guy was quoted about $800 for a gallon of paint! My car took just over 200 hrs, which included all that you mentioned, except for rust, but the painter also replaced a quarter panel. Nice...

Please help with Brake Light problem

The wires to the brake lights run through the turn signal switch under the horn button. I'll bet you have something amiss in the turn signal switch.

Going to Restore my '67 - Please chime in with helpful advice

You need spindles, you have a 67, and you want disk brakes. Sounds to me that you are a good candidate for a Granada swap. Do a search and you'll find enough info to keep you reading for a year. Unless you're going for big HP, a 8" rear should be adequate. Make sure to get the right length...

How di I remove hubs from front drums?

I've been told that you can buy the drum and hub as a unit from NAPA, need to visit the store, it's not listed on line. Saves the hassle of removing the hub and having a new drum resurfaced. Check it out.

    Suspension and steering

Drive the S10 while saving up for a suspension rebuild? Gosh, a lot of performance mods to an engine for a car that should not be driven due to poor suspension and steering. I do not know of a cheap way to make wornout parts work like new. If you can solve that problem, perhaps you should...

    Is this for a 8"

The seller is obviously confused. "Not a posi" well that goes with out saying, posi is a GM term. "Just a limited slip" yea it limits slip to one wheel :) . Why would anyone want an open rearend with 4.11 gears?

    Brake Diagnosis

If you find you need fluid, find out why! It is normal for the fluid level to drop some as the disk pads wear. In fact on newer cars low fluid can indicate it's time for new pads. If you've lost enough fluid that it's affecting brake performance chances are you have a leak.

    Clutch question

I also have the centerforce dual friction between a modified 302 and a T5. There is no comparison to a stock clutch. The Centerforce is smooth and easy to engage and I've never experienced slip. Easy pedal pressure. I do not have any experience with other high quality after market clutches, but...

    Installing Shocks

Since the car will be on safety stands, your jack will be available to jack up the lower control arm so the shock doesn't need to be fully extended.

    Engine upgrades

Doesn't sound like you're looking to replace the entire engine. I would look for a balanced package of "add ons". Edelbrock has several performance packages that are balanced for power levels such as: http://www.edelbrock.com/automotive_new/mc/power_package/power_package_main.shtml I'm only...

    Help the new guy!

You have a very desireable car the way it is. I would suggest you accept it for what it is and save your $$ for the day when you need to fix something. It WILL happen. ... On the other hand, you're only young once.... I just don't remember what that's all about, so you may choose to ignore me. :)

Of course the first book you should purchase is a factory service manual. No better source of information ~$45 from any Mustang parts place.

What? No rear sway bar? What's the story? Forgot to put it on the list Tried it didn't help Have one but it didn't make the list of best improvements Satisified with the things the way they are? Just curious as I really admire your approach to Mustang performance and I'm sure if you...
