If 289 is bored .040. over, is it still 289 c.i.?

Your overbore cannot be 0.15 in. The most you can bore a 302 is 0.060 in, and some people say that is too much. The correct amount of overbore during a rebuild should be determined by measuring how out of round or tapered the cylinders are and the minimum overbore should be used to clean up the...

    coil springs

Some interesting info about the 351M http://www.projectbronco.com/History/history_of_the_ford_351m.htm By the way, the 351M and 351C weigh about 550 lbs. The 302 is about 470, 351 W about 510, and the big blocks are in the 640 - 680 range. Springs designed for any 351 would be ok.

    Let me see your trunk

I bought auto carpet at WallMart. Made some cardboard templates of the trunk to use as a layout for cutting the carpet. Used industrial velcro to hold the carpet in place. No stitching required. Not mustang correct, but I like the black carpet better than the stock. Sorry, do not have any pictures.

Question regarding I6 to V8 swap

:nono: It is pretty universal that the side of the car is identified from the driver's position. R is right side which is where the passenger sits (at least in most of the world). Maybe we should have gone with starboard and port, as they do on ships.

    Tri-Y clearance issue ?'s

I've heard of "redesigning" the bends by bolting the headers on without gaskets, then using your foot to apply enough pressure to the collector to bend the tubes. I haven't tried it - use this method at your own risk!!

why do I have a terrible vibration when braking

Sorry I misunderstood your post. By old brakes I thought you were refering to old technology drum brakes. I now see that you ment drum brakes that are old and not functioning properly. Glad to hear that turning the drums fixed the problem. Good luck with the front end alignment.

why do I have a terrible vibration when braking

I disagree that vibrations are normals with a properly functioning drum brake system. Remember drum brakes were used on cars for more than 60 years before disk brakes became popular. The vibration indicates a problem with the system. You could have drums that need to be turned or contamination...

    suspension 68 coupe??????????????????

Do you mean like a 2005 mustang? not going to happen (well maybe with a BIG budget and a lot of engineering). 40 years of suspension development has improved things. Do you mean like when your car was new? Go with a stock suspension rebuild with rubber replacement parts. Many good vendors...

What primer should I use after aircraft paint remover?

IMHO the best auto painting advice on the web is at http://www.autobodystore.com/cgi-bin/config.pl?index . If you do not want to apply the epoxy primer immediately, they recommend using a product called PickleX on raw metal that is waiting for the epoxy primer. The parts should be stored...

Price check on a 65 fastback

That reserve is based on "what can be" not "what is". I agree with the 3-4K range and even at that I would have to hide it from the wife.

    Removing weather stripping goo

I used WD40 and elbow grease, just need to make sure you get that cleaned off before painting. Otherwise it will cause issues in the paint.

where to start, what to get for a 67?

Do not forget that the swap to the V8 will require a new rear end, with the engine you're talking about a 9" would be the way to go. Have you carefully evaluated the car for RUST. You're talking about big bucks for performance. Need to make sure you have a good foundation.
