    First Numbers For The Boostang!

If you're actually having belt slip, you've got a problem somewhere else. There's no reason you should have any trouble pushing 10 pounds of boost through stock heads and cams via a fairly efficient blower, especially not with an 8-rib setup. I'm running a 2.9" pulley pushing 13 pounds of...

    01 Blown Gt

Only time I'd vote for less than 3.73s is if you actually need less gear to get through the traps, or if you have a turbo car and want to be able to spool the turbo a little easier in low gear.

    First Numbers For The Boostang!

Looks like one of the runs is with the converter unlocked, and the other with it locked. Regardless, a graph really shouldn't be quite that rough. It's not horrible, but it should be fairly easy to smooth it out via tuning. Notice it already has a lot of smoothing on it (SAE 5). I don't...

    Forged Internals For 4.6 Gt

The best/cheapest way to do it is 2012 Boss 302 rods and used Cobra pistons. Stock crank is fine. Stock replacement bearings and rings are fine. And contrary to what a lot of people will tell you, the stock head bolts are perfectly fine as well (so long as you're not over 20 pounds of boost)...

Progress Thread The Sneaky98gt Build Thread

Car is 100% running, got over 2000 miles on it now with no problems. Only thing left is the tuning. I'm doing it myself now, and I'd call it 80% done. All the part throttle and idle stuff is finished. Worked on transmission shifts and torque converter lockups for a while this past week...

    First Numbers For The Boostang!

(from a couple months ago) Ahem...I'm not saying, I'm just saying..... :D Don't get too confident there. Boost is only a measure of back pressure, not necessarily air flow. A stock top end 2-valve with 15 psi from a turbo only makes in the 550 rwhp range (with a GOOD turbo). And that's...

    About To Give Up.

One of the scissor-type disconnect tools may be easier to use. Also, if you can see it, check to see if one of the tabs is bent inside the line. I fought this very line on my car a couple weeks ago for over an hour. Got way more than mad at it. Looked at the tabs, and one of them was bent...

    What About Brakes?

It really depends on what your needs are. Honestly, if you're not tracking the car, or doing regular hard stops from 100+ mph, the stock brakes actually do fairly well. My car with the single piston front calipers will lock all 4 tires on command. If you're not using them like that...

Anybody Running This Fuel Pump Yet?

I'm running an AEM 320. I've seen a lot of good reviews on it, and it's done well for me for over 1000 miles now. Don't quote me on it, but I think it came with a warranty, too. Only $100, too. If you want to stay in the 500 rwhp area and the 99-04 fuel system, I think it's a good buy and...

    Cam Swap Help..

If that's not a typo in your .050 durations, then those are HUUGGEE cams, way too big for anything less than an all-out race car. For reference, the equivalent MHS cams are stage 4.5 with the description "Aftermarket Intake, Ported Heads, Notched Pistons, Headers, and Higher Lbs Fuel Injectors...

Need Help! Need Advice For Super Charger On 03 Gt

Explaining and understanding the correct physics will actually get you everything. Don't worry, though. I'll get some data soon enough. My car's actually a good example, too, since I can change the ACTs with the flip of a switch. However, it looks like said data will be a little delayed...

Need Help! Need Advice For Super Charger On 03 Gt

But they're not obvious facts. Go back and read either of my last two posts (minus the sarcasm one). Nowhere have I said or implied that warmer is better. Of course cooler is better because you can run more timing, a leaner mixture, or more boost. Duh. I have said that several times now...

But the exact value of any one of those parameters doesn't matter. The only thing that matters is the total combination of those parameters. P1, T1, and V1 can be completely different from P2, T2, and V2, but if they both come out to the same mass flow rate, then they will be treated equally...

I see. I didn't notice that was a degree symbol, and not a 0. And why not? The only thing that matters is how much mass of oxygen is entering the engine. The temperature, pressure, density, etc., none of that matters. This is evident by the fact that we have a MASS air flow meter. This...

Need Help! Need Advice For Super Charger On 03 Gt

Alright, bear with me here. It's been quite a few years from my chemistry and thermo classes, and was never my strong point anyway. All of your stuff seems correct, and I can't [currently] argue against any of it. However, I'm still not convinced that it makes a significant difference. First...

I got that. No disagreement there. But my JLT intake pulls from the fenderwell, also. So does a K&N. But for some reason, that's not good enough for Kenne Bell. Is that actually true? I may be wrong, and I welcome someone to set me straight, but I haven't had someone convince me of it...
