    I went from 3.55's to 4.10's last month, I am happy with the performance improvement. I gained MPG around town and lost 2 MPG cruising at 70-75 MPH. I turn around 2500 RPM's at 75.

    I have 275/40/18 tires and with the 4.10 gears my RPM's at 75 are 2550. At 70 MPH the RPM's are about 2200. I did lose roughly 2 MPG at 75 MPH that might be an issue for some people. I would never go back to the 3.55 gears unless I put forced induction on the car.

    I would be surprised if the ignition switch was bad, but it's possible. If the car is a stick, bypass the safety switch on the clutch pedal.     It sounds like the starter/bendix was damaged when it was loose, I would replace the whole starter with a mini starter from Jegs or Summit.

    I believe all automatics had 3.31 gears. There should be a tag attached to one of the rearend cover bolts. It will probably say 3.31L.

    To me it all depends on tire diameter and the car set-up. I would probably lean towards 3.73 gears. But I would have 15X8 drag wheels with 27"-28" drag radials on it and 15x3.5's up front.
