SuperDave is right. And if you flip one of those cars gas goes everywhere. They vent through the cap. I always worried about water getting in the tank. They dont seal very well. If you fill the tank full it will pour fuel back out the cap when you take off. But I still like mine and wouldnt...

Use Gasket or Silicone on 3rd Member?

I just put mine back together. I always use a gasket and the only sealer I ever use on anything on the car is Permatex aviation gasket sealer. It never dries and I have never had a leak with this stuff. I have been using it for over 30 years. :D

Its a different world thats for sure. I grew up with those old cars. So I learned to drive on those things. I think you have to decide can you live with it. You can make them dependable. Need some resto help...

Clean all the rust off and spray wd40 or PB Blaster around it and keep working it. I ended up using two big flat blade screw drivers...

    Need help finding wiring gremlin

I will take a shot at it. Did you check the fuseable link wires that are hooked on to the solenoid. They are there to protect the wiring in the car. If you have a short they burn out. I know if you try and jump start the car and touch the cables wrong they blow..... :nonono: The fuse panel...
