    shorty hedders question

If you are worried about sealing, you can use a little ultra copper RTV around the ports on the header gasket for a little extra sealing. Also, after you get them on, keep a wrench in the car for the header bolts. Everytime you drive it it, then let it cool down, snug all the bolts again. You...

    shorty hedders question

When I put on my POS individual flange BBK shorties years ago, I had the same problem. I found it was easier to start the first bolt, then pry on the the back tube with a prybar leveraged against the firewall to get the back one lined up. Make sure you have gaskets that allow you to drop...

Removing TAB and TAD solenoids properly...

In my quest for a cleaner engine bay, I've been thinking about how I could remove the TAD and TAD solenoids from the passenger side strut tower. I have completely removed the rest of the thermactor system...air pump is gone, X305's are plugged, and I'm running a Bassani O/R X. I know you can...

i feel like my mileage should be better....

I just put in new O2's in my '92 GT when I put in the FRPP headers and Bassani OR X. I was getting about 70 miles to the 1/2 tank point, and now I'm getting ~125 to the same point. O2's are fairly cheap @ $39 ea, and you would be surprised how well they affect mileage..

Why arnet fram oil filters any good?

Purolator makes the Motorcraft filters...they are just a tad of a step down internally from the Pure One filters. They have a lower flow than others, but this is because they filter much better. A lot of "high flow" filters don't filter as well. It's a trade off between filtering and flow...

140 amp alt w/ 4ga power wire - Circuit breaker or fuse?

My bad on the bad information, I was going by memory. http://www.lightningaudio.com/2004/products/product.asp?prodID=315 "All Lightning Audio fuses are plated and rated at 200% for 5 seconds. " Edit: I'm not sure if the comments are accurate, but it says that people got a package of...

140 amp alt w/ 4ga power wire - Circuit breaker or fuse?

Fair enough...I can relate to that. For instance...I'm guessing the 1/0 gauge wire I used for my positive battery terminal is nowhere near needed...and yet, I have it anyhow. ;) :nice:

    Rattling noise

Just a couple things to check. I had rattling for awhile, and it turned out to be a loose nut on a header stud, that was allowing the h-pipe flange to rattle. Also, I had a buddy that had rattling that turned out to be starter bolts that had loosened up.

140 amp alt w/ 4ga power wire - Circuit breaker or fuse?

It doesn't have to be waterproof, and that was just a comment from someone who bought it. I mounted mine vertically so any water that got in there would drain out. I've been driving around and washing the motor without isse even getting the fuse and holder wet. Also, as for buying a second...

    Cleaning C&L MAF sensor..

Actually, it's much easier to gently clean the wires with a Q-tip and alcohol. If you have a decent amount of gunk on there, spraying it will only accomplish dousing the sensor with fluid, and not getting all the crap off in some cases. I wouldn't use anything more harsh than alcohol IMO...

140 amp alt w/ 4ga power wire - Circuit breaker or fuse?

Oh, no sweat man, I didn't mean to make it sound like that now that I read it again. I'm always looking for the best "bang for the buck", so I figured if he could get something a tad nicer for the same $$, it might be a better idea. That's the beauty of these forums...you can get different...

140 amp alt w/ 4ga power wire - Circuit breaker or fuse?

Aren't those just an ANL fuse with a plastic box type holder? I prefer the platnium coated for corrosion resistance alone, but to each their own.... :)

140 amp alt w/ 4ga power wire - Circuit breaker or fuse?

On my 3G conversion, I went with this Stinger platnium coated ANL fuse holder, and a 150A platnium ANL fuse..(I did the 120A PA unit). Fuse Holder - $10.95 150A ANL Fuse - $5.95 Here it is installed... :)

    C & L: thoughts and a question

I just went back to the stock airbox with K&N with my 73mm and it works like a charm. It was what Lee suggested. I haven't tried a normal paper filter, but I'm not sure why it would make any difference....the air path would be the same. Also, for the CAI guys, the stock airbox is a...

    C & L: thoughts and a question

When I was installing new injectors, I called C&L to inquire about if I would be better off getting a sample tube for my 73mm, or get the 76mm/powerpipe combo. I talked to a guy named Lee, and he spent a whole hour talking to me about what I had done to the car, what I had planned in the...
