    I'm talking about actually locking the rears up because they either a) did not attempt to rev match, or b) attempted to rev match, but ended up short.

    I've been driving around people that do this on the road, barking the tires on downshifts. In all honesty it looks really stupid. It makes them look like they can't drive. Hell-toe rev matching is where it's at.

    i rev match. heel-toe downshift all the time i'm feeling racey, which is 99% of the time. IMO when you do it right it looks better than the car jerking all over and barking the tires on downshifts... it looks like you actually know what you're doing.

    I doubt the air silencer would do anything. Check your intake for air leaks, that could be it. But as was said above maybe you need a tune up.

    I have a friend who has a '92 Camaro RS auto with pretty much the same problem as you. He says it's caused by a hole or crack in his intake.
