    78 Cobra II Help

Amaterasu, glad to have you back and sorry nobody answered you earlier. As I recall, the long water pulley bolts aren't particualrly unusual, they should have a standard (SAE) thread on them, and for a 302 powered MII they should be the same as any other 302 of that period. I seem to...

    Cologne 2.8 V6 To T5 WC Transmission

One of the MGB engine swaps over at the British V8 website uses a Ford 2.8L V6 with the M5OD trans. The shifter on the M5OD may turn out to be too far forward for use with a MII, I hope to get some pics and measurements on here soon. If you had an application that needed a forward located...

    Cologne 2.8 V6 To T5 WC Transmission

There is a new 4.0 V6 with T-5 swap going on over at another MII site: Mustang II Network Forums - 4.0 T5 mustang II swap He's using a 2.8 V6 manual bellhousing with a 2.3L T-5. The 2.3L T-5 has a different input shaft than the 3.8L/5.0L T-5. And another link to the Sunbeam Alpine swap...

Help using a non MII stock 302 Oil pan

I did some searching here and found a couple of referneces to aftermarket pans. http://www.stangnet.com/mustang-forums/801624-oil-pan.html http://www.stangnet.com/mustang-forums/438700-project-update.html Apparently the Canton pan does not fit, but the Milodon pan mostly fits with the...

    Swapping a 4.0L v6 into a MII

Ah, I didn't think about shifter placement on the Mazda M5OD trans. I'll get under my Ranger in the next week or so and measure.

Where can I get the long bolts that attach sub frame to the body?

A silence here usually means that not many people have tried it before. If you want new parts you are likely to have to take a sample to the local nut and bolt supplier. The local home supplier (Low's, Home Despot) may carry something similar, but you want Grade 8 or better, which they...

    Sway Bar End Link Bushings

Last time I checked Moog still carried the front MII sway bar endlinks. Its some work to replace the rubber parts with poly, but there are a couple of "how-to's" around.

    MII Hood Struts?

I know I've seen a few MII owners that have installed hood struts, and even one that was selling a MII-specific kit, but I wasn't in the market at the time. For those with hood struts, what are you using? A kit to fit another car, junkyard parts? I read on this site that MRT has a new kit...

    Swapping a 4.0L v6 into a MII

I think that the 4.0 V6 swap is a great idea for a MII! The 4.0L OHV 5-speed in my 1991 Ranger has lots of power and has over 160K miles. I had to install a limited slip rear just so my Ranger was drivable in wet weather. The later 4.0L OHC engines have more power, but also have more...

    Is this a drop spindle?

Looks like a 2" drop spindle to me. The axle is mounted high in relation to the location of the steering arm. If you look at a stock spindle, the axle stub is only a little higher than the steering arm. See attached pic.

    76 Cobra 2

J-sven, its a Ford 302 2bbl. They are pretty much the same from 1971 through 1979. I've never heard of a "302B". Add intake, port heads, add cam, add headers, improve ignition...you can get anywhere from 250 HP to 500 HP, depending on what RPM range you want to run in. More RPM means more...

    stock lug question

The 5 lug pattern is 5x4.5" for all Mustangs, old and new. The early 4 lug pattern was 4x4.5", while the 4 lug pattern for the '74-'78 and '79-'93 Mustangs was 4x4.25".

Need help with Cobra II exhaust!

The Hooker's are the preferred solution for a 302/auto combination. They are a little more expensive than the Hedman's but have a better pipe routing. And they are FAR less expensive than anything from Borla these days. You have to get a set of weld-on collectors separately, but they are only...

    Cracks on trans tunnel

The only structural issue I have heard with the MII is cracking where the front subframe meets the firewall, and even that is rare, usually requiring more much engine than stock and repeated hard launches. I think that overall the MII is pretty tough. My '76 was parked against a curb on a...
