AFR 205's on 351w based motors

HELP! 418W problem during initial start-up

Exactly, my car would idle ok and then as soon as I drove down the street it would spit and puke and backfire through the carb. I thought the dist was set perfect so for the sake of it I re-stabbed the dist, problems all went away. This was after a cam swap so I checked all the wiring etc as...

    Help me build a monster

Get a cam like the TFS Stage 3 or similar, I run one like it and it is a nice cam for what you plan. AFR 205, 185 = too small for 408W, Step up and buy 1 3/4" headers, not sure who makes the best forged kit, but a Vic Jr is always a good choice, I run a Super Vic in my 426W. Good Luck

Settle at last: Hooker comps or supercomps?

I would go with the comps for your combo. But my Super Comps are 1 3/4" not 1 5/8" like the comps, so double check the pipe diamater to be sure. The comps will fit a little easier if this is the case as well.

    rear swaybar or not?

I use on and like it. Though I reccomend a curved one that follows the contour of the rear end, not the straight across kind.

Edbert, I used your illustrations and downloaded the instructions for the painless kit from their site, that combined with the EZ instructions answered all my questions. I would also consider a trunk mount if I had to do it over again. Your site was VERY helpful, so thanks for taking the...
