    13" tires

I should have added that the Cobra GT tire is still available in the 205/60R13 size. On the T5 topic, yes I had made up some custom crossmembers to use with the T5 & Mustang II bellhousing. That was a few years back though, and they've all been sold long ago. If you're using the fox...

    13" tires

I just noticed on the Cooper tire website that they're discontinuing their Cobra GT tires in the 195/70R13 and 185/70R13 size. This was one of the few manufacturers left offering a decent performance tire for the factory Mustang II rims. Anyone looking for new 13" tires may want to order them soon.

    New dyno results.

Chances are when they tuned the carb all they did was adjust the idle mixture. It may need different jets, rods (Edelbrock carbs) and/or power valve (Holley carbs).

    T5 is in...headers & subframe connectors too

Thanks guys. I forget the exact number but I think with the Mustang II bellhousing the shifter is only forward about 1-1/2". This was the main reason I wanted to use the MII bell. Regarding the subframe connectors - the car feels solid but honestly I haven't driven the car enough to know...

    T5 is in...headers & subframe connectors too

I finally got my car back last week. It's been in the shop getting the T5 conversion done, plus a bunch of other stuff. It seemed there was one delay after another but the wait was worth it. Here's what got done: T5 conversion - rebuilt T5 from 89 Mustang, using the MII bellhousing - new...

    New motor is running!

Yeah, it seems the idle is normal for that camshaft. There's a guy on another website I posted this on who also has an XE262H camshaft, and his motor has the exact same idle roughness. For the valvetrain, I'm using Ford Racing 1.6 pedestal roller rockers. Since that video was taken I switched...

Now I know why the V8 clutch is Mustang II-specific.

I started a thread a few weeks back about my T5 conversion. It's still in process and has once again been delayed. The clutch kit I'm using is RAM 98501 which fits 76-79 V8 Mustangs. Unfortunately the clutch kit was packaged with the wrong pressure plate. I was sent the pressure plate from an...

    Wheels: Almost There!

Next set of tires, get raised white letters. That will look really sharp with a white car & white rims.

if you could go back to january of 73....

Alright, alright. Geez, tough crowd. OK, how about this... I would tell the engineers the car was too heavy and they needed to trim at least 200 lbs..and all that weight should come off the front end since the car is nose-heavy.

    Need carpet and window seals

I got a new carpet set made by ACC (http://www.accmats.com/). The quality was pretty good and fit not too bad. Oddly enough, it was cheaper for me to get a local auto restoration dealer to order it for me than to order directly from ACC's website. I ordered new window seals from Mustangs...

if you could go back to january of 73....

One technicality: in January 73 the Mustang II design would have been basically finished and tooling well under way. The Mustang II hit showrooms in September 73, so there would be no time to enlarge the trans tunnel, widen the engine bay, change platforms, etc. These kind of changes would have...

another vote for bigger wheels 13" wheels is fine for the base models but the Mach 1 / Cobra II / King Cobra should have gotten at least 14 x 7" alloys

    T-5 conversion

Out of curiosity I weighed my V8 flywheel and it came in at 40 pounds. Still heavy, but not 60 lbs. I did a little searching and I think the earlier 302 cast-iron flywheels were around 34 lbs. I bet Ford had to make the Mustang II flywheel heavier to get the same rotational inertia with a...

    T-5 conversion

For me the main reason to use the Mustang II bellhousing was the shifter position. With the T5 & II bell the shifter will be 1-2" forward (?), with the T5 and T5 bell it will be more like 3" forward. Being able to fit headers without modifications is a bonus. The downside of using the II bell...

    T-5 conversion

I just got off the phone with my mechanic. He got the bellhousing machined and took some more accurate measurements. What he's going to do is get a machine shop to fabricate an extended bronze pilot bushing (just over 1" long). I asked about going with a roller bearing & longer sleeve and he...

    T-5 conversion

Yeah, I think that's what we'll have to do. Some previous postings here suggested that using the 94-95 input shaft removes the need for the sleeve, but I'd be nervous running it this way. I'll keep you guys posted.
