    My 89 LX Build Thread!

I have been working on the car a little bit every day this week doing little stuff, like painting moldings and spending some more time with the Porter Cable. I pushed it outside a few days ago to see how the paint looked, and to see if the 97 GT wheels would look good on it. They do! So, it will...

    What to do/Where to start

From the looks of it, just spend a weekend buffing the paint out and I think you will be amazed at how well the paint will come out. My car had much worse paint, and with a few days of polishing its coming out really nice. Before- After (not completely done but with just 2 passes of...

    My 89 LX Build Thread!

Thanks! It's really starting to come around now. The Porter Cable is model # 7424. The pads were purchased from a local guy that owned a little detail business so I really don't know what brand they are, but any assortment of pads will work fine as long as they have a cutting pad of some sort...

    My 89 LX Build Thread!

Thanks man. The 79 F-100 was my grandpa's. He bought it new and recently gave it to me!!! It is 100% original and is in excellent condition considering it was a farm truck! I finally got me a Porter Cable of my own so I can guit borrowing my buddies. I went to town on the car for about...

    slow90coupe's NOTCH BUILD THREAD!!!

Thanks guys! Heres what the engine bay looks like now. The BBK CAI, Maf, and 24#s really made a difference! The car also pulls much, much harder and has a better idle quality. We got the cars timing bumped up to 15 degrees too and filled her up with some 93. Needless to say, it feels like a...

    My 89 LX Build Thread!

Thanks guys. I love my shop! I've almost outgrown it already though. I need to sell something! I have pretty much decided that I wasnt to just do a stock 5.0 motor in this car. Maybe a GT40p motor, but nothing radical. I just want to be able to have fun driving this car every day while the coupe...

    My 89 LX Build Thread!

Thanks guys! I have a very long road ahead of me. But its going to be so much fun!!! Heres todays progress... I started out by taking out the old, tired 4cyl motor. I have helped on 4 motor pulls, but had never done one by myself before. It took me about 2 hours, but I got it out...

    My 89 LX Build Thread!

Thanks guys! It really is a straight shell. There isnt a single dent in the entire body. All of the paint looks to be original, but it could have had 1 repaint. Regardless, its not bad for $200. Its hard to find one that cheap with a clean title. I am trying to find a wrecked v8 car to transfer...

    My 89 LX Build Thread!

I picked this car up from a buddy today. It should be a fun little project to keep me busy over the summer break! It is a 89 hatch, 4cyl, with no tranny and no wiring. All of the interior is still at his house, but is complete minus the seats. But i have an extra set of seats, so I will have a...

    TrboFox in 50&SF June 2011

Congrats! I saw this car up close last weekend at the NMRA race in Atlanta. The pics of this car do it NO justice. The car looked absolutely flawless. I stood there in awe of how well done it was for a pretty good while. I was going to talk to you guys, but it seemed like plenty of other people...

    slow90coupe's NOTCH BUILD THREAD!!!

This weekend I went down to the NMRA/NMCA race at Atlanta Dragway. While I was there, I picked up a few parts that will hopefully wake my car up and make it actually hook. A few weeks ago I tried to launch it at about 1500 RPM. All the car did was wheelhop really bad. So, I picked up some UPR...

Won't exceed 2500 rpm in any gear, (bogging) when warmed up

my car had the same problem a few months ago. it turned out to be either the MAF sensor or the TPS sensor. i replaced them both at the same time, so im not sure which one was the culprit. definately check those two things out if the ground wire doesnt fix the problem.

The SINGLE dumbest thing I've done while in the Garage

my dads 1970 EL-Camino also burned to the ground about 3 years ago. It was a very nice car. It was a SS 396 375HP car with a Cowl Induction hood and AC, and was black with white stripes. now, every car that we have has at least one fire extinguisher in it. :(

The SINGLE dumbest thing I've done while in the Garage

summer of 2010... i had just gotten my 2.5" cowl hood. i was soo excited to put it on!!! so, i bolted it up. i said "i dont need a safety latch. the stock latch will hold it good enough". so, i shut the hood halfway because i needed to check something else before i drove it. well, i get a call...
