    It was verified that it was, in fact, a 7.5 rearend and not an 8.8 rearend. Nate has agreed to refund my money and that it was an honest mistake. Everyone's happy again.

    Fiberglass stock hood

    My hood weighs about 5-10lbs. It's a lift off hood and one person can easily lift it off. I also have a stock 88GT and I know those factory hoods are heavy!! Trust me...you will be saving a lot of weight!! Get the regular hinged hood and not the lift off style because it's a pain in the ass...

    Fiberglass stock hood

    They make them. I bought a factory style '82 hood formy '82GT. Unfortunatly, it a regular '82 hood and not the GT hood with the factory scoop. I've seen stock fiberflass hoods for other years too. I got mine from Harwood. Just look in any 5.0 mag there are a few fiberglass company's out there.

    Myself, I would go with the vacuum carb. They are more "forgiving" than mechanicals. If you had more mods done then I would say mechanicals. Compression ratio also plays a part too. Vacuum carbs will only open the secondaries when the engine needs it. Mechanicals open the secondaries if...

    Mechanical secondaries open up when the throttle reaches a certain point. Usually not long after the throttle is pressed. Vacuuum secondaries only open up when the engine vacuum reaches a certain level. There are a lot of variables to determine which is better for your setup such as gears...

    That's what I was going to say.... especially if it vibrates bad when you let off the gas then it's most likely loose driveshaft bolts.

    I just bought an 8.8 rearend but when the guy dropped it off for me, I noticed it didn't have mounts for quad shocks. It can't be from a 5.0. Will other 8.8 units work? I'm hoping I don't have a rear I can't use. It does have the 8.8 bolt pattern just like my '88GT but no quadshock mounts.
