HELP! strut tower brace problem questions.....

I have the same MAC chrome brace as that in the picture provided. I too thought I'd have fitment issues when I laid mine out in the engine bay. Ended up fitting great though :) Do you have subframes under your car? If not, I seriously suggest getting those installed also as if you don't...

    Power steering whinning.

Guys, I'm in the market to replace my entire rack and pinion as I to developed a leak from the driverside boot. It's not too bad yet, just I'm tired of having to top-up all the time and I don't want to be driving 120km/hr when the whole rack goes. My question is, what brand replacement racks...

    Power steering whinning.

Ford no doubt was aware that a metal pump would quiet things down. However, they wanted to keep production costs low so that's why they installed the plastic ones.

    New Mufflers, Loud exhaust backfire.

I get this also. It happens one cold start-ups, especially when it's cold outside. I'm running a high degreed cam with only 2 cats with a MAC 2 1/2 inch catback system. Once warm though (after a minute of idling), I can step on the gas and it won't pop. I'm running rich also.

    Installing New Battery Cables

Good post. I was interested in replacing mine also, however show none of the symptoms you guys have mentioned that mine are bad. A good investment to get after you replace the cables is to get a battery cut off switch which 50resto also sells. You install this on the negative terminal of...

    White Faced Gauges

The reason the MAC whitefaces don't look that great at night isn't due to MAC's design. It's due to the design and location of all the light bulbs behind the instrument cluster. When I installed mine I took everyones advice and peeled off the old guages and cleaned the cluster as best I...

    White Faced Gauges

Any of those so called "slide over the needle" white face guages are a piece of crap. Biggest problems experienced with these things is their appearance is poor/ugly, you can't see squat at night when you have the lights on as the bulbs behind the the cluster won't light up your whitefaces...

Only 200 miles on a full tank?

Ah, to heck with it! Just take off your hatch and install 2 cylindrical tanks in the cargo area, hook up a reserve gas line and you're all set. P.S. Don't forget to also wear a black leather motorcycle suit and get yourself a huskey dog to ride along shot-gun when you go out on trips :)

What are the must do's before the 5.0 goes into hibernation?

Crazypete, living in New England, you should have a rust proofing outlet that'll do your whole car for $100. Like a Ziebart, or Rust Check or Krown Rust. Besides soaking a moisture repellent oil under your car, they also drill tiny holes in you door jams and quarter panels and with a...

What are the must do's before the 5.0 goes into hibernation?

Putting on jack stands is above and beyond what is necessary. Usually this is done if you only drive the car 3 months a year. 4 months of storage won't cause problems to your suspension. If you have indoor storage, lay a large plastic tarp over the spot where you'll park the car. Cut 4...

Only 200 miles on a full tank?

Highway kilometres, I'm getting 400km a tank full :) In miles I figure probably around 200-225? I know that due to the fluctuating value on Canadian exchange is increasing against that of the US, so eventually our km/gallon will equal that of the US m/pgallon :)

    Changin the battery

Myself, I have an AC Delco in my 1990 LX. I think it's great. Had it for 3 years now and no problems. AC Delco goes for about $125. Since you're changing batteries I suggest you purchase a battery disconnect switch. They're pretty cheap, some go for as low as $8. After the swap when you...

    Muffler suggestion? (searched)

Buddy, you have Flowmasters which are pretty much top of the line BBK being the best in my opinion. Unless you're getting tired of the drone sound coming from the back while driving on the highway, I wouldn't even take into consideration whatever that guy said to you about it being to loud...

5.0 coupe or 5.0 GT hatch- please vote

I've owned a 1990 5.0 LX hatch for the past 3 years and I believe the notch is the best simply for the fact the car's chassis is stiffer and I think lighter than a hatchback. You also have less expenses on a notch (trunk) than on a hatch in terms of having to replace those wornout hatch support...

    87-93 saleen

You'll have to find a licensed Saleen dealership in your area to get this kit. Yes, Saleen made a few limited edition Saleen Mustangs in the 87-93 range some of which were police cars. I have a nice big book called Forty Years of Mustangs. In it is a nice full colour photo spread of a Saleen...

    mysterious connectors in trunk...

I have a hatch also and when you open my hatch I have one courtesy lightbulb. It provides enough illumination as when my hatch is open I get lighting from that as well as the cabin light. Could it be because you have a coupe and it's a trunk, the single bulb didn't provide enough lighting so...
