    Remove the can, clean the commutator and replace the brushes. Depending on the construction, getting the brushes back on the commutator can be an absolute bear. Other than that it is easy. The coils need to have conductivity.

    You could do a manual valve body. I dont know if it is the clutch she cant do or the whole shifting thing. For autocross, just thinking about it logically: Big big big cooler. Deep pan, shift kit and a performance rebuild. Call trans go and ask them what they recommend for that application.
