H Pattern Is A Thing Of The Past?

That little reverse lockout button, then I think you push the shifter forward and it goes in reverse. There was a video floating around of how it works a couple days ago.

So those controllers eliminate the need for a separate relay/relay board?

I'll definitely keep an eye on it with the damp climate we have here. A lot of stuff(ARP bolts and a few other things) had surface rust on my engine before I was even close to starting it for the first time. Even my oil pan had oxidation on it.

Build Thread My First Notch Build Thread - Remember me?!

Oh, I wasn't finished. So what I will be doing now is using a manual switch to control my fan until I gather up enough pennies to get a set of contour fans and a new controller. I ordered another relay board to wire my switch through. Hopefully that will be in by the beginning of next week. I...

Build Thread My First Notch Build Thread - Remember me?!

Well I bought an oil catch can. I found one on Amazon for half the price of the UPR catch can. It seems like pretty good quality. It looks nice and has beautiful welds. Of course I forgot to take a pic of it before I installed it. The only place I had space to install it was inside the...

Build Thread 1978 Mercury Cyclone. The pig is in the pen.

VP has an octane booster that claims to up the octane about 8 points IIRC. I used it in my car the last time I filled up. Bought it at Autozone. I used to use that NOS octane booster in my 94 GT after I did HCI.

Who's Using A Lincoln Mark Viii Fan?

Yeah, I think I'll do that for now. But I still need to use 10g wire from the relay boards to the fan, right?

What years contours should I look for for the fans or are they all the same?

Who's Using A Lincoln Mark Viii Fan?

So if I was to just use a toggle switch what size wire should I use? 10g? Should I use a 50amp toggle switch? I'm tired of going thru all these controllers. I'll be on the lookout for some contour fans. But for now I'll just manually control the fan with a toggle switch. I just want to drive...

Who's Using A Lincoln Mark Viii Fan?

Yeah, but isn't the amp draw on those almost as bad or the same as this fan?

Dave, are you going to do a complete rebuild on this engine or were you hoping to just put new gaskets and go?

Who's Using A Lincoln Mark Viii Fan?

I'm beginning to think this fan wasn't worth the headache its causing me. What other aftermarket electric fans move enough air to keep a poked and stroked motor cool on the street in New Orleans extremely hot and humid climate in the summer? We never really get real winter weather here so...

Their ears must have been burning when you were talking bad about them. So they sprung into action. :D

Who's Using A Lincoln Mark Viii Fan?

I don't remember what the constant amp draw is on this fan but I know initial startup amp draw is around 70 amps. Should I use wiring according to that or the constant amp draw? @jrichker could that be what's causing the controller to not cut the fan off?

Who's Using A Lincoln Mark Viii Fan?

    12 gauge. Controller is p/n 16779.

Who's Using A Lincoln Mark Viii Fan?

Battery power going to the controller, power from the controller to the relay board, from the relay board to the fan.

Yeah, what he said. Don't feel bad, we all skip those chapters. Then we get the Cliff's Notes of them forced on us when we least expect it.
