    Yes, bad idea. It's been done and some have succeeded in not breaking anything. I was running a 125 shot on my stock pump and it didn't pop. Anymore than that or if I get serious about spraying again, in goes an SVT pump.

    If I remember correctly, I did disconnect the steering shaft. It's only one bolt and not hard to get to. The bushings make a subtle, but noticeable difference. Not a hard job but plenty to bust your knuckles on.

    You can, depending on the cam. Some are mild enough that they'll work fine without porting the heads or even changing the valve springs. However, these will be the cams that give the most minimal gains. What are your goals with the car?

    I think the LS1 GTO will have the advantage on top end... as in over 100mph, say from a high roll race. Even in the heavier GTO I think the top end pull of the LS would be enough to come around a comparable 2v at that point.
