Header Fitment Question On 65 With T5 Trans

Update - I have read online that Hedman 88400's dump right onto the tab for the trans but my setup does not seem to. Maybe it's my heads that angle the headers differently?? Anyway I crawled underneath the car and took the reducer with me with some thin card stock wrapped around it to extend the...

Header Fitment Question On 65 With T5 Trans

Hi All, I have a set of Hedman shorty headers 88400's on my motor. The pass side header seems to be fine at the collector but the drivers side looks like it's just going to clip the cable clutch mounting tab on the T5 transmission. These are ball and socket type connectors so I could almost...

    Gear Recommendation

I like that price for the rear. I've got the same set-up in mine. Block is a 1987 5.0HO converted to carb. Alum heads, hi rise manifold, cam etc. My rear is also an 8" and I have a T5 in the car. Haven't changed the diff yet but I really like that price you got, wish I could find the same around...

Progress Thread 65/66 R Type Front Valance

My Dynacorn R type valance arrived today. Looks and feels like a fairly solid piece but not sure about fitment yet. When I have a go at installation I'll post some info on how much tweaking it needed. Surface is smooth and it's definitely an injection molded piece (says fiberglass/plastic on the...

    I6 To V8 Conversion

I'm not too clear on your intent here...are you thinking of leaving some of the I6 pcs in there. I did an I6 to V8 swap on my 65 FB and replaced the following parts: Front spindles - 4 lug to 5 lug (I used the Granada spindles) drum brakes converted to disc so all the drum related items went...

Paint and Body Does Anyone Recognize This Fastback?

Update - Found it. The car is called Smokin' Oats and was built by Pinkees Hot Rods. It subsequently sold at Barrett Jackson Scottsdale in 2013 for $143K. I think the color may actually be a silver that hues green in the light. Working on that now.

Paint and Body Does Anyone Recognize This Fastback?

I have been searching hi and low for the right green (yes green....I can hear the comments already ;^) ) to paint my Pony. I like the Spy Green on the Ring Brothers "Espionage" build but thought it ultimately may be too polarizing. I think I have found the green I want but can't pin down the...

Paint and Body What Should I Do With This Hood? Help

Yup x 3 As someone who has just gone through doing bodywork I would not touch that hood. Unless you have a LOT of time on your hands, good tools, skills (or a thick wallet) you'll never get it right. It's probably twisted or buckled a little as well so when closed you'll also have to fix uneven...

    Headers.......

Be careful with long tubes on a lowered car. You'll end up going sideways over speed bumps for the rest of your life which becomes a PITA!! Sacrifice a little bottom end torque and run shorties. Just my 2c.

Progress Thread About To Run American Autowire

I think the Tool Aid may be the one as I have heard other pretty good things about it. At this point I'm waiting for my kit to arrive and will need to see exactly what connectors are in the kit. The other thing I was thinking was to run all the wire and get it as complete as I can since many of...

Progress Thread About To Run American Autowire

Hi All, its been a loooong time since I've been here. Kids, work etc, you know the drill. Anyway I have been making some progress on the car. Bodywork is mostly done, car has been sprayed with self etch and now Slick-Sand to await further prep. Last winter I built the engine and once I realized...

Progress Thread Help Discerning 66 V8 Motor Mounts

Ok so I have my motor mostly built and just ordered my carburetor today (Quickfuel SL-600-VS), nothing too crazy but I'm excited to fire this thing. Also have a set of Hedman shorty headers 8400. Again pretty tame but they were cheap and I can change things out later if I want to. So I have a...

68 Timing Cover + H20 Pump On 5.0. Bolts Sizes And Locations

Hey guys, for anyone who wants to compare, here are the bolt lengths and locations I figured. I mocked up the timing cover and water pump and then used a thin wooden dowel to check depth. The ran to the local hardware shop to grab some bolts. This is a 1968 timing cover going on a 1987 5.0HO...

Progress Thread 68 Timing Cover On 5.0ho Block - Help With Bolts

Ok too cold to be working outside so I'm inside building the motor. That said, I have the next problem for you all. I'm using a 1987 5.0 HO block but no EFI. I am installing a 1968 timing cover for the mech fuel pump and will be using a standard rotation high flow aluminum water pump with a...

New To The Classic Mustang Scene

Welcome!! Lots of great folks on here willing to help. The 66 looks great and I too love the manual trans. BTW - love the stance on the 93 Fox. IMO that's damn near perfect.

Progress Thread Cylinder Wall Marks - Too Bad Or Not

Broke down and caved as you all have me convinced. Dropped the block off at the machine shop this morning. If they cannot hone the marks on #1 clean they are going to bore all cylinders 0.020 over for me and a new set of pistons and rings will be on the way.

Progress Thread Grab A Trak Mid Eye Leafs Not Even

Ok so I got underneath and loosened everything up. Undid the shock bolts and took bottom end of shock off the spring plate. Then bounced the suspension and went side to side a few times. Seemed to correct a little. I haven't put the shock back on the PS spring plate yet but both wheel arches are...

Progress Thread Grab A Trak Mid Eye Leafs Not Even

I'm going to raise the car a little, unbolt the leafs and shocks, raise it up more and put stands in place. Then unbolt the rest and remove the leafs. While out I will check the arch on both. Then reinstall on opposite side, lower and tighten. I'll let you know how it goes. Cheers. Chris
