    EGR Removal money issues help?

I appreciate all the responses guys. I ended up trying to see the diaphram move when I pulled the vacuum but I didn't see anything move. I pulled the whole thing apart cleaned the piss out of it and then reassembled it, all to no avail. I assume it was either broken to begin with or I was too...

    Flexible exhaust tubing?

To unleash the full potential of four yep, count'em FOUR 22hp apiece cylinders of blazing mechanical fury, with which to peel asphalt from the road. Actually it's just because I'm cheap, short on funds, and the shop where I get my exhaust work done will charge me less for open exhaust, because...

    Flexible exhaust tubing?

Thanks for all the answers, I'm probably just going to have everything from the headers back replaced with straight pipe, no cats or mufflers. No problems with emissions down here. Only question now is style. Traditional, side exhaust, ... or....stacks like on a big rig !!! :jaw: :jaw: :jaw...

    Flexible exhaust tubing?

wasn't aware that it was that horrible, (though I did doubt it's value since it's so cheap) I just figured until I can get around to getting an exhaust perhaps it would be sort of a quick fix type thing. I know a shop that does good work for fairly cheap that put the exhaust on my truck, but I...

    Flexible exhaust tubing?

Hey, my current exhaust has holes in it, could I just remove the whole exhaust, and just hook up a piece of flexible exhaust tubing directly on the manifold, and mount it somewhere under the engine bay? Any ideas what that would sound like, how it would run? My exhaust now has lots of holes and...

    EGR Removal money issues help?

I'm having problems with my engine having a lumpy idle, and I'm suspecting the egr (have pulled a few codes forgot what they were but checked the manual and it said something about the egr). I pulled off the tube connecting from the exhaust manifold to the egr on the back of the throttle body...

    Which wire to horn?

It's a black and red wire coming from a bundle of wires on the driver side. When I finished changing the timing belt and putting on the new tensioner, I had to set the timing and I think that's when I must have pulled it off (poking around trying to get to the distributor bolt). What is...

    Which wire to horn?

Since the topic is starting to change from my last post I'll start a new thread. While I was working under the hood adding the new tensioner, I must have pulled something loose, because I have a wire coming from the wiring harness in the firewall that's not connected to anything, and now my horn...

    Blown engine replacement

replaced the tensioner and belt, runs great now. I had to reset the timing and I set it to 18 degrees. It has a bit more pep now no detonation, but I'm running premium gas. I added a homemade cai, but I think my pvc was too thin cause it melted. :bang: probably use a steel pipe next time. :nice...

    Blown engine replacement

Not sure what the name is. I know it's not the timing belt tensioner or the A/C tensioner. It's the one on the right hand side when you're looking at the engine, and guides the belt over the alternator pulley. It's on the driver side.

    Blown engine replacement

I think I may have a problem. The tensioner pulley (on the side the altenator is on) has lost it's springiness. I was putting the belt back on and heard a loud snapping sound, and now the tensioner won't bounce back like it used to. How do I fix something like that? I can't even get the belt...

    Blown engine replacement

I pulled off the timing cover and it did indeed jump time. I pulled off the timing belt and found that it has about a 6 inch long section of gums instead of teeth. Also when I pulled off the distributor cap to make sure the distributor rotor is pointing at the number 1 plug, I noticed that on...

    Blown engine replacement

had my grandpa (old timey mechanic) check it out, he says it looks like it jumped time, so we're checking out the timing belt first (much easier to get to than the head.) How does slipped timing make an engine overheat though?

    Blown engine replacement

Hi. I've got an 88 LX hatchback with a 2.3L non turbo engine, and the engine finally kicked the bucket after 225,000 miles. I'm suspecting a cracked or warped head ( Overheated to about 290 degrees and I had to drive it about 4 miles in that condition, smoking, knocking and all.), and possibly a...
