    It took me 10 hours flat-backing it. There are countless threads devoted to header installation on the 4.6 sohc - you need a pretty good arsenal of hand tools and lots of patience. While it isn't very difficult, it is quite tedious.

    The mid-lengths rock. Great power, sound, fit, build quality, etc. Be advsed, should you have to pull the tranny, rent a slide hammer and remove the collectors - so much easier.

    bassani mid-lengths will indeed allow the tranny to be dropped w/o removing them. One simply has to remove the collectors from both headers (simple, rent a slide hammer) and the tranny comes right out - had to do this when I replaced my clutch.

    Are you getting error codes? Is the engine running rough? It certainly is feasible that the excessive heat from the headers could have shortened their life. Just replaced both my front ones with Bosch units, which were $54 each at Auto Zone . . . sure cured my issues.

    With your rwhp, why mess around with the wrong tire / wheel combination? Get some 15 x 10" Weld draglites and the 295 / 50 / 15 DR. If you plan to launch hard, then you'll need 31 spline carrier / axles at minimum. LCAs, 5-way adjustable shocks, welded axle tubes & torque boxes wouldn't hurt...
