How fast have you run with worked cast iron heads ?

Scott .... something. I believe his car is a white Ford Fairlane and races at Atco and Englishtown Raceway Park, both in NJ. and yes, I b believe his car does run in super stock. All I know is his cam is HUGE, open headers, but running stock ported heads, low compression, and a carburetor that I...

How fast have you run with worked cast iron heads ?

are you in a special class?? I know a buddy of mine runs a 289 motor with stock ported heads in a white fairlane with a jericho 4 spd. Launches the car at 9,000 and shifts at 9,500rpms! Runs low 10's with it. As of now he's the 2nd fastest in his class except for a guy out west who's only faster...

Holy Crap this Evo ran a 10.3 at 143 freakin mph

$20,000!?!?!?!? I WOULD like to see you build a "nice" daily driven mustang that runs 8 seconds all day long for that price. I see about $15,000 in the motor including a power adder which is low balling it. Another $5,000 for complete drivetrain. $1,500 for a fuel system, $1,500 for a cooling...

    dipstick tube wont go in

You can cap it off, you just wont be able to check your oil :) (a lot of racers actually do this to stop their dipstick from popping out all the time, which isn't the best way to counter the problem) I believe the dipstick tube goes between the 3rd and 4th primaries on the drivers side. I...

Storage of M/T slicks over winter to prevent dryrot?

ive always throw mine in the shed, full of air, laying which ever way it lands when I throw it. Had em for 6 years now with no rot what-so-ever but plan on getting new tires next season cause they are 6 years old regardless. If you do anything more than this, plan on your slicks lasting 10+...

Engine Oil Leak from Lower Intake! It seemed like it?

So buy a new screen and put it in. You probably needed a new one anyways. It is there to stop oil from being sucked into the pcv valve. Taking it out will only make your problems worse. The only reason to take it out and leave it out is if your's is clogged up. Buy a new one. Done.

    Who makes the best quality......

I'd have to go with CP Pistons. Price is higher than DSS or others but you asked for the best quality and those are the ones I recommend!!!

    Milky Substance in oil pan

It's possible this guy took apart his motor and spilled some coolant in the motor during disassembly but it usually isn't milky white because it can't mix real well when it is standing. Looks like a headgasket leak to me or lower intake.

How to store Built 306 for long time

Yeah, ive never heard of "filling a motor all the way up to the top with oil". YOU DO NOT NEED ANY OIL IN THE MOTOR TO KEEP IT STORED!!! IT DOES NOTHING!!! PUT OIL IN IT WHEN YOU ARE READY TO PRIME IT AND START IT UP!! That's all i gotta say :)

How to store Built 306 for long time

woah. If the heads are already torqued down, leave them on. If they are not torqued down, than take them off and wipe down the cylinder walls with a thin coat of oil to reduce rust buildup. After ALL of the metal bare surfaces are coated with a thin coat of oil, cover it with a blanket or wrap...

    Exhaust in Coolant

I would suggest doing a couple things differently the next time you redo your headgaskets in the near future. 1) Buy a "Thread Chaser" set from jegs or summit to clean out the threads instead of using a tap which will "cut" out more material. This is not good. 2) Instead of using Indian...

How to store Built 306 for long time

I do believe WD-40 dries up after a short period of time. It's not like an oil where it wont evaporate. It's possible that the WD-40 will clean the metal of any grime, than when it dries, you have bare metal = rapid rusting in humid environments. Remember, anything is possible! :D

    Water Pump?

This is why I recommended a dual spal fan setup and custom shroud from Ron Davis. Check their website out and sell the black magic when you get a chance. I have one on my car and it cant keep a motor cool when idling in 90+ degree heat. I do have a viper fan ready to go on but haven't had the time.

    Water Pump?

not to rain on your parade, but with the arizona heat you live in, I would have ponied up some more dough and gotten a Ron Davis setup which is located in arizona. They build pretty much the best fan, shroud, and radiator setup you can buy. It helps they are located in Arizona so they know what...

    first night at college

Sorry for bringing this thread back from 2 weeks ago, but the girl was a huge :taco: and not to my liking. Maybe if I had 15 more beers in me at that point it would have been different but I'd rather decrease my risk of catching the clap. About me sleeping in my friends room, I slept on his...
