    WRX STI?

I drove an STi for an hour once and it was unbelieveable! I'm guessing you'll need nearly 100HP in mods before you get into their neighborhood. They're very impressive cars for the type of car they are.

electric cars, hybrids, corn in our gas, e85, cars made to run on e 85

Demand remains high and now they've come back to us with the instability argument in the Middle East. Just assume $3 nationwide by summer...

Post mileage and any problems you have had

2002 - 46,000 miles At 10,000 the rear tail shaft seal went (warranty) At 42,000 the cam shaft position sensor sent an error code. Needed a new sensor and a new alternator (apparantly there was some intereference between the reprogrammed ECU and the old alternator) (warranty). I drive...

    Changing the fluids this weekend...

Mobil1 is not what it used to be. They changed base stocks and now the oil is of similar quality to most every other major brand synethic (and about $1.50 more a quart). As it stands now, Mobil1 is just a regular synthetic. I don't know enough about Royal Purple motor oils to help. I've...

I need help with my Insurance Company

I agree with droid's reply. If it's a "special" edition or type of car, you need to insure it as such. If you were insuring it as an everyday Mustang, that's exactly what they're going to buy out.

how much do you think my car is worth?

I would have gone and gotten my title immediately. That's at least $3k more than it's likely worth at retail.

#$%@&*! finding flaws on a used car

I bought mine with 6600 on it and met the owner. Some kid who ordered it as his "dream car" and "got into some trouble" with it. He was a detailer at the dealership, so the thing was immaculate. The only flaws on it are the ones I put into it. The only service before my purchase was 2 oil...

    rear gear question

People that have the 3.73's will tell you they love them. People with the 4.10's will tell you they love them too. It's all up to you. You'll get both "schools" to recommend their preferred ratio. I don't think you can go wrong with either. Calibrating the speedometer is easy. Speed...

Got my 3.73 put in today!!!

You can buy a speed calibrator for pretty cheap. You don't really need a tuner if all you are doing is the gears. $200 for the install from the dealer is laughable. I had four quotes from the dealers around me and the lowest was $600 for the labor. You got a very good deal.

    i hate winter...

This winter has pretty much sucked. We got a huge snow around the first of December, and it was cold. There was salt everywhere. I put it up December 2 and took off the insurance. Since then, it's rained all the salt away, and it's 50 degrees every day. If I would have waited the week of...

    Best oil and filter.

As you can see, everyone has differing opinions on which oils to use. The MC blend is a very good oil. A lot of people here use synthetics too, with Mobil1 probably being the most popular. You'll never get a definitive answer to the oil question. Most guys are running the MC filter...

Thinking bout the switch Petro to Syn oil

Yes, you can switch at any time. It doesn't much matter. The only disadvantage to synthetic oil is the price. This is lessened by quite a bit when you factor in the longer OCI's. Mobil1 remains a good synthetic, even though they've changed their base stocks. Now, they're pretty much...

    Remote Start....on a 5 speed

As far as I know, it's technically illegal to do. A guy I know installed one on his 5-speed truck. You have to remember to leave it in neutral. His truck hit 2 buildings before he removed the kit for fear of hurting someone. One of the times, the thing picked up an errant code or something.

carmax was only going to offer $11,500 for my stang

I'm not surprised at the offer. Cash offers are always going to be lower than trade-in offers, so I'm not surprised at 11.5k. It's a little lower that I would have expected from them. Considering the age, mileage, and condition, I would have guessed in the low 12's for their price...

New pics of my 2003 Torch red Mach 1

Very, very, nice ride! Other than the front plate drill holes, the car looks perfect! I like the look with those rims.

    Ditched the Stang...

Well, if you're happy with it, that's all that matters. You can close your Stangnet account now....

    Back Fire on Start?

The '02's have a hot starting issue. Some of them will "backfire" a bit at startup one time. After that, the issue disappears. Related or not, my cam position sensor was out of whack. I had it replaced and have not had the issue since. I know it's been discussed before. Hopefully...

I found a live bug in my salad!

Well, a "mosquito looking bug" is definately a cause for concern. Not the worst bug to have in your salad, but bad none the less. Managers will give a full variety of responses to calls like this. I'm not surprised at his response. You didn't get into detail about your tone to him...

    Pics of my new car...GTO

Nice ride. I like the '06's a lot and I wasn't crazy about the '04's. When I saw the pics, I said "That's got to be the Bay Area", and sure enough...
