    I'd think they're lazy. 9k OCI depends on what kind of what type of oil and driving was done on the car. It is a bit long for most dino oils. That OCI with synthetics is fine.

    For the '99, Ford recommended 5W-30. After 2001 or 2002, they changed the recommendation to 5W-20 (the reasons have been discussed dozens of times). They might have moved the 5W-20 recommendation back via service bulletin, but I don't remember.
