    Transmission fluid lines

I doubt there would be any improvement as the cooler will restrict the flow. The pressure is not really an issue as output is at low pressure to begin with. Routing would be a problem. I'd suggest a set of good stainless lines.

Carb. / Dist. vaccuum line question. 69, 302

The passenger side carb port is timed. The driver side is full. I have tried both. There is a lot of debate as to which is best.

    Timing Assistance Needed

I have always had success with timing the full advance first. On most small blocks the 36 degree mark is 2" clockwise from TDC. I set the rpm to 3500 and adjust for 36. Then, I check the base timing for 9 to 12 degrees. There is a lot of conversation out there concerning where the advance...

    Rented a V6 auto...

I would naver make a $20 K plus decision on a sample size of one. The 5R55S auto transmission does not need a dipstick. It is filled and checked via a special two part drain plug.

ExCon Is Now Transmitting: American Cars Suck!!

Since I have never owned a Japanese or German car, I guess I don't know how bad I have it. BTW, I drove from Jacksonville, FL to South Jersey twice a year for 10 years in my Ford Pinto. Never a problem but air conditioning would have been nice.

    Spark Plugs

I doubt you will gain HP by changing the OEM plugs. They are a very special plug and are designed for 100,000 Miles. Best HP gain is in the exhaust.

export brace or monte carlo bar?

The export brace is almost mandatory to keep the front end stiff. The monte carlo bar is optional. The curved MC bar is for those folks that have an oval air cleaner. Installing the export brace is easy. Installing the monte carlo bar is a huge PITA.

    Sequence Tail Lights

Rather than pay $120 to $170, I bought a kit from M&M electronics for $50 that does the same thing if you are handy with crimping wires and can follow directions. Wish I could post the movie here. The job was easy and took about an hour. M&M can be found on ebay.

    C-4 ??

I dug into the manual last night. You may have a bad low/reverse clutch pack. It could be the clutches or the clutch piston or the clutch drum. The only way to be sure is to pull the pan and conduct air checks.

    X-Plan Problem...

You are being ripped off. There is no such thing as an X plan allocation. Dealers get cars based on volume sold. X plan is a transaction between the dealer and Ford Credit that allows sales below MSRP without taking a hit. factory allocations are through marking and the regional managers.

Do I need to port my new intake?

Always port your exhaust first. Maximum bang for the buck. With a 600CFM carb and a high rise intake, there is not much gain to porting the intake. You should match the gaskets to the head though. Trim gasket material to ensure good flow.

    Carb help

The owners manual for the 1406 carb says a maximum of 6.5 PSI. Recommend you change fuel pumps or obtain a fuel pressure regulator. I use the Edelbrock 1490.
