4r70w Convesion with Hurst Quarter Stick

Ok, worked on it a little more today. I had to drop the back end of the tranny back down a bit to get all of the wiring harness connected. While I was at it, I hooked up the shifter cable. Here is another pic of the shifter hooked up before I attached the cover plate... Here you...

    Innovate Wideband Kit Advice

Unless you have a means (and know-how) to tune each bank individually, it's money better spent elsewhere. A single wideband placed in the known lean bank (typically the drivers side) is all you would need. Yes, it has the ability to emulate a narrowband to send the proper signal to the stock...

TURBO FOX W/AUTO NO GOOD ?

AOD LOCKUP vs NON-LOCKUP Torque Converters - Click Click Racing Forums http://www.clickclickracing.com/tech%20mods1.pdf A quick search over there will give you all the info you need and then some. If looking to upgrade…the tranny choice greatly depends on the usage. A strict ¼ mile car...

    98gt versus 89 5.0

In the same token there are guys making 330rwhp and 270rwhp respectively with AFR 165's on a 302. Having the proper setup with the proper tune and being on the generous side of tolerances can add up.

    98gt versus 89 5.0

If the turbomustangs search engine wasn’t acting crazy…I could. There were multiple examples of out of the box TW and AFR 185’s pushing 1000rwhp. Here is some threads that shows some of the capability’s…. Fastest mustang with stock AFR 185 heads??? Head flow #'s and forced induction Here is...

    98gt versus 89 5.0

In the same token, there are guys making 300rwhp with a cheap gt40 swap with a mild port job and some making 270rwhp without. Yes, most make less…but I’d venture to say most cam/bolt on PI 4.6 setups don’t all achieve the same results either. To a certain extent…yes. Keep in mind though...

4r70w Convesion with Hurst Quarter Stick

Thanks! Believe it or not, those trannies are capable of holding a good 500hp+ in stock form and upwards of 800hp+ with some minor upgrades. Most don’t realize this…but they are VERY underrated. The reason why many don’t use them is typically because they require either a full manual VB...

4r70w Convesion with Hurst Quarter Stick

Yep, but only the 3.8 v6 and explorer versions (every bit as strong as the v8 mustang tranny's). As for the shifter location....it's damn comfortable! It's not too far off from where the stock shifter should have been located in the first place.

Well, I picked up my cheap trans cooler for $25 monday. It's not huge...but hopefully it will do (it's rated at 14,400 BTU/24,000 GVW).

    plugs in alum heads

This is a MUST with any aluminum head. As for the torque, no need to use a torque wrench, I always use a 3/8 ratchet held towards the middle/inner part of the handle and give it a good strong tug. If you are pulling the wheels off the ground when your tightening the plugs...you're probably...

4r70w Convesion with Hurst Quarter Stick

Just a minor update. The tranny is now INSTALLED! What a major PITA!!!!!!! My previous T-5 and 3550 I had simply “benched” into place by myself and held it in position until I threw a bolt in the bell. No way in HELL was that happening with the auto…especially with my shoulder still...

More timing = less gas mileage?

Seriously....people will damn near call the fire department! :D

More timing = less gas mileage?

Run some seafoam through your brake booster check valve. It sounds like you have some mad carbon buildup leading to hotspots in the CC and higher CR's. Throwing octane at it may help with pinging issues...but those issues exist for a reason.

Next up, mounting of the quarter stick shifter. Because this car is going to go the way of the do-do I decided to go ahead and mount the quarter stick where the ashtray resides. All of the ashtray garbage has to get hacked out. In order to get the shifter in the correct...

4r70w Convesion with Hurst Quarter Stick

Here are the beginning pics of the conversion. Before I started, I realized that not only was I missing the shifter cable bracket that mounts on the tranny...but one of the mounting pads had been cut off on an angle...WTF! I won't complain too much as I got a killer deal on the entire setup...

Turbo kit finished!!! But so is the head gasket too i think

My experience (and that of many others) is 100% the opposite. Those little check valves hold back boost extremely well...as anyone who has brake boosted or held the tires at bay while bringing the converter up to speed. For those looking for extra protection in the PCV system what do people...

Turbo kit finished!!! But so is the head gasket too i think

There is a one-way check valve on the booster that should keep the brakes from seeing pressure. Keep in mind though, with more power comes more demand on the brakes. ;) As for the gaskets, I’d just go with some fel-pro 9333’s or 8548’s…throw in some ARP head studs and call it a day...

    my notch vs. 96 cobra

Then you sir either have a factory freak or a cheating dyno operator. Most people running a longtubes, o/r h-pipe full catback and a CAI are BARELY eclipsing the 300rwhp mark.
