    You are right about the increase in compression from the carbon...I think. But carbon buildup on the pistons actually creates hot spots that can cause the air/fuel mixture to pre-ignite. That may be cool on a go-karts but not on a car. :)

    I tried to do the head swap but afterwards the engine wouldn't turn over. I thought that it was the starter so I had it flat bedded to a shop and the mechanic told me that my engine has locked up or seized (I don't really know what that means) especially since I can turn the crank by hand...

    Went down to Lowes and picked up some fine wire brush drill attachment. Works great to remove the carbon buildup. My piston top now looks like new. Thanks RysRed96GT :hail2: tomustang, did you see my question about timming? Any answers. Thanks.
