    AOD Torque Converters

How does an AOD still have overdrive when you take out the input shaft that runs the OD? .. In order to switch to a non lockup coverter you have to pull that shaft out which IS your 4th gear. Not trying to flame just wondered if I missed something, have rebuilt a couple of these (and they both...

    AOD Torque Converters

No lockup = no overdrive so you will basically turn it into a 3 speed and since the TC never locks up its ALWAYS slipping which as GTO said makes the non lockup run hotter. Now on the other hand if your ever planning on really feeding an AOD some power you pretty much have to get rid of the...

minimal heat even when car is warmed up

+1 on the blend door but just as a piece of info the last 2 stangs I bought the previous owners had put the thermostat in backwards (most housings won't let you put them in backwards but these will) they will always run cold if they get stuck in backwards, just something that had happened to me...

    Transmission aod and tko

I think the max HP rating on the AoDs was 400ish not quite sure of the exact number could be 400 though. Have seen alot break with quite a bit less then that though, especially if you have a shift kit that bangin WOT shift into 3rd gear is known to snap that intermediate input shaft like a...

    MEXI-BLOCK QUESTIONS

Only way to use the stock lifters is if you invest in a small base circle cam or your lifters will be pushed up out of the bore. IMO the only way to (correctly) retro fit a non roller block for a roller cam is the pay the extra money for the lifters with the link bar and use a full size roller cam.

In the lifter valley it should say "Hecho en Mexico" if its a mexi block.

    Engine hoisting?

I just welded up a lift plate that screwed into my lower with all 6 bolts and it has always worked fine, have pulled the motor/trans many times (a few times even full of oil still and w/ all accessories on it) I wouldn't ever try without all the bolts put in thats for sure but have had no issues...

    engine bay weld up

Well granted ... I always use aluminum but I also always wear a respirator, as I personally don't feel like huffing ANY welding fumes .. I'm sorry I should have said to be careful for fume sickness :P **I weld aluminum daily so was a no brainer for me :D

    engine bay weld up

Get a decent size hunk of aluminum, hold it on the backside of the hold and plug weld it. The weld won't stick to the aluminum and wont fall through the hole, its easy and they clean up nice. Just my opinion but JB Weld is becoming just as badly abused as Bondo and duct tape, especially if you...

91 stang shift problem NEED HELP!!!!

Good luck to ya, just be careful to note the difference in the lincoln and mustang aod if there is any. For some reason I'm thinking the TV linkage is upside down but that could be crown vics  someone that knows the answer correct me :)

91 stang shift problem NEED HELP!!!!

TV cable is what controls the AOD. Basically it runs the throttle valve inside the valve body which ultimately determines line pressure that corresponds to the amount of throttle being given which is why it is very important that the movement between the throttle cable and the TV cable needs to...

Running hot under load but fine at ilde?

Do you have a custom tune or are you running an ignition system that retards timing with boost? If your coolant system is all checked out and working well, and your sure no head passages are blocked (from backwards gasket or w/e) I'd maybe look at timing. I'm still learning alot about forced...

what size 17" tire for fox body?

The rims I'm running up front for now are 9" and at full crank the rim rubs the a-arm (stock). This is on an 89, I think if I stuck a spacer on mine I'd have tire rub issues (with 245s) have just been planning on buying a pair of 8" for the front when I get new tires.

    Got Her Riding but hmmmmm!!

Low fluid levels can cause a major lag if there isn't enough getting into the torque converter .. I'd see how much it improves from topping it off to correct level before you go looking for broken parts.

Water pump and timing cover bolt kits..

I hated that nobody made a fastener kit that had the actual factory style studs and after calling a dealership and finding out I could get all but one (due to discontinuation) BUT these idiots wanted $30 for 1 freakin stud. Low and behold one of those stupid little H.E.L.P. packages you see at...

what size 17" tire for fox body?

Same here on the 235s/275s. Had 245s on the front but they rubbed at full turn like Anaconda was describing (although mine was enough to worry about) **Should probably mention I did have to take the lip down on the inside of the fender so it wouldn't gouge the 275s but thats it, still running...
