Just bought an S-Trim--need help picking out supporting hardware.

Aside from simply being larger and able to flow more air, are there any other advantages of the 90MM MAF over a 76mm unit? And is installation simply a process of finding and hooking up the right plumbing? (IE is there any rewiring or reprogramming required for the 90MM MAF to work...

Just bought an S-Trim--need help picking out supporting hardware.

I just bought a used Vortech S-trim from this auction: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1,1&item=8041008240&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT I'm planning to pick up a set of 42# injectors and a calibrated MAF. I've seen 42# injectors with a 76mm C&L MAF on Ebay which...

    changing gears - 3.27 or 3.55?

I assumed my '89 GT vert had 2.73 gears, because they were extremely tall--turning a good bit under 3000rpm at 100mph. So I picked up a set of used 3.27s and had them installed. Well lo and behold, my new gears felt exactly the same as the old ones. So I checked, and I had 3.27s before...

    Are my gears toast?

I've been noticing a clunking noise from the rear end of my '89 Mustang. I assumed it was a U-joint going out, but I checked them out and they seem to be tight. The clunk is coming from inside the pumpkin. When I twist the driveshaft by hand, it moves about 1/4 of an inch before I hear a clunk...

How to repair small tear in convertible top?

I found a repair kit from Jegs here: http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/ProductDisplay/c-10101/s-10101/p-170101/mediaCode-ZX/appId-384644 But I am more comfortable with having a professional repair it. My top wasn't going down all the way on the driver's side (it would stop a couple...

How to repair small tear in convertible top?

I've got about a 1" tear in the top on my Stang. It's not on a stressed part of the top so it's not going to tear any more, but I'd like to fix it up. Anyone know of a convertible top repair kit, or some other good way to cover up this tear so it doesn't look like it's there?

    Idle surging when decelerating.. ?

When I'm slowing down and put the clutch in (to put the tranny in neutral or downshift), the engine will sometimes drop to around 500rpm and then surge up to around 1400rpm. It will drop then surge a couple of times before settling back to the ~900rpm idle. If I blip the throttle lightly while...

What parts to take off car to pass smog in CA?

Thanks for the link.. I'll go looking for the EO numbers on my parts. I have buddies in SoCal, I love the nice year-round weather there, and I'm a bike guy and there's some great riding out there. Plus it would be a big improvement over southern Illinois.

What parts to take off car to pass smog in CA?

Along the same lines.. is the F-cam emissions legal? What about shorties? And what's the deal with CARB stickers? If the parts in my car are CARB approved (I know what that means, at least), how do I go about proving that to the test facility? How do I go about finding out if the...

1o5 mm throttle boddie is it a waste of money

This guy should quit spending money on his car and use that cash on some remedial English classes. :wtf:

How to tell what ratio gears are?

Well, I'm almost positive that the gears that came out were 2.73s. I used the corral.net Gear Calculator and based on my RPM and speed numbers, it appeared that I had the 2.73s. The gears I bought as a replacement were used and I didn't check them 'cause I didn't realize it was as easy as...

How to tell what ratio gears are?

Hmmm.. well, duh, that seems easy enough. Supposedly the old gears were 2.73s and the new ones were 3.27s, but the new ones don't seem to drive any different than the old ones. Admittedly, I haven't gotten the speedo gear installed yet, but I can usually tell my road speed pretty well even...

How to tell what ratio gears are?

I know I can count the number of teeth on a set of gear to tell what ratio they are. But I haven't had any luck finding that, so please point me to a URL or chart that will let me convert teeth into a final drive ratio.

how many people have 275/40 17's on back of fox?

I've got an '89 GT vert too, and I think I've got the same wheels. My car is lowered with H&R road race springs and suspended with Tokico Illuminas. Yours like like the AFS Cobra R replicas, 17x8 up front and 17x9 in the rear. Do you have any rubbing problems? My rears seem to rub the...

My H/C/I is done and running well, how much HP am I running?

The previous owner of my car did HCI plus a host of other bolt-ons. He claimed that he had the same mods as Ford had done to its 345hp crate motor plus a few other minor ones, so he figured the car was making about 350hp, give or take a few. At first, I was pretty skeptical of that figure, but...

    Mobil 1 oil users...

Theoretically speaking, 10W30 and 10W40 should flow equally well under colder conditions, so if you're gonna switch from 10W40 in the winter, why not go with 5W30 that will flow a bit better when the temps are low?

    Mobil 1 oil users...

I am currently running Mobil1 10W30 (what the previous owner put in before I bought it) but will be switching to 15W50 in a month or so when I change it. I prefer thicker oil because the climate here doesn't get down much below freezing in the winter and stays in the 80-90F range over the summer.

    Just lowered, need suspension help..

I just finished lowering my '89 GT today with H&R road race springs from MM. I've got 17x8s up front with 245/45s and 17x9s in the rear with 275/40s. I used to have occasional rubbing problems in the rear. I would either get rubbing while cornering (on the chassis itself) or when going over...

POLL: which weight oil do you all use???

Right now my Stang has Mobil 1 10W30 in it because that's what the previous owner put in it back in January. I will switch to Mobil 1 15W50 at the next oil change. I'm pretty sure fully synthetic 15W50 will flow at least as well (if not better) at 32F than standard 5W30. And I like having the...
