    T5..questions

It depends on what your budget looks like and how much work you are willing to do. If you got a really good deal on it, I would use it just to get the car going until I had enough $ to get a good trans. suited for what you're gonna use it for down the road...I'm in the same boat you're in...I'm...

    Another T-5 question

Obviously this is my first time with this, but I need some basic info. This I know sounds dumb, but what year t-5 should I be looking for? I see a lot of them for 94 and up...also what bellhousing should I be looking for? I need something that will bolt right up, using the driveshaft and...

    connecting rod question

The pistons came as a weight matched set. I understand I need to match the rod weight...do the rods have to be weight matched to the pistons, or is it that all the components(rods, pistons) together need to weigh the same? I hope this makes sense...I think I'm starting to confuse myself!!

    Another T-5 question

Is it possible to get a 4 or 6 cylinder t-5, rebuild it with v-8 sized gearing and synchros, and change the input shaft? Would that work? I am on a budget and can't afford $1000 + for a tranny, but would like to think it is possible for around $500 or so...

    Another T-5 question

So I've been looking everywhere(Ebay, local paper, etc.) for a used t-5 for my 306, but haven't been able to find any. Do you guys know where a good place is to find one for my mustang? I can find them for the 4 and 6 cyl. cars, but none for the v-8. Thanks

    connecting rod question

I just pressed them in. I bent the first rod I tried because I was learning. After that one, I lubed up the wrist pins with motor oil, and they pressed right into place with no problems. Do any of you guys have a good stock 5.0 rod laying around? I'll pay shipping!

    connecting rod question

So I was installing my new forged pistons on my old rods the other day. I was pressing the wrist pins onto the rods with the shop press when I noticed I bent the wrist pin end of one of my rods a little (1/8" maybe...). I removed the piston and pin, then pressed the rod back straight. Should...

    T5 trans identification

I am looking for a t5 5speed tranny for my 306, and was wondering what the characteristics are on the v-8 t5 vs. the v-6...basically wondering what I need to look for on the transmission to make sure it is made for the v-8 motor, and not the v-6...know what I mean? Is there a visible check that...

need help choosing an intake manifold

Okay, I'll go with the rpm air gap then. As far as the carb goes, I see there are 2 choices with the holley: either a vacuum secondary, or a double pumper...which should I choose? I was thinking the d.p. because I'm afraid with that cam I won't have enough vacuum at low rpms to support my...

need help choosing an intake manifold

I am building a 306, forged pistons, b cam, 5 speed carb setup and was wondering if I could run a super victor, or vic. jr. intake manifold on this motor, and whether or not it would work...it's gonna get a 600 holley on top. Any ideas or suggestions?

    Engine rebuild kit questions

I measured the distance between the top of the deck and top dead center of the pistons and came up with roughly .007-.009, using a good straight edge and feeler gauges. Rick is right, the factory decks do seem to be all over the place, and nowhere near perfect. The pistons do have the valve...

    Engine rebuild kit questions

Thanks for the help. Do you think that if I go with the larger heads, it'll make more power with the lower comp. ratio, or am I better off with smaller heads and more compression? This car will be used for road racing and scca events, not for drag racing.

    Engine rebuild kit questions

pistons are summit part # SLP-L2488F30 the heads are irons. I am building on a low budget, so I am looking for used parts when I can find good deals... Still undecided on the heads though. I don't want to sink a lot of money in my current heads trying to make them perform like performance...

    Engine rebuild kit questions

yes, I already have the parts. The kit said flat tops with no reliefs, but what it came with was flat tops with 4 valve reliefs...also, I haven't done anything with the heads as of yet. I found some RHS heads (used) on craigslist for $400, but I think the combustion chambers will be way to large.

    engine removal?

I'm not an expert or nothin' but I would just let it sit for an hour or to...let the pressure relieve itself. Just my .02. If its a carb, you shouldn't have much pressure.

What engine balancer do I have?

Hey all, I would like to re-use the balancer that came off my 85' 302 crank(OEM). I don't know if it is a 28 oz. or 50 oz. I found the numbers D20E-A1A SDK8 stamped on the balancer. I am going from an automatic to 5 speed tranny and want to save money on this part by reusing it. It still...
