    base timing is 10*. to change the base timing you have to pull the spout connector or the puter will undoo what your are trying to do. you won't even get a steady timing reading without pulling the spout.

    i have not used both but i wish i had the 373's instead of the 410's primarily because i do mostly hiway driving. and first gear is just about useless. but on the other hand, she does pull hard in all gears. even on the hwy at 70, it takes no time get to 90+. but your top end will suffer.

    if it's been like that for a while then restab the dizzy and nurse it to the shop. Don't waste your money on a May Suddenly Die dizzy. a remanned one will work just fine and won't leave you stranded. sure it's shiney but as they say "chrome won't get you home"

    the distributors are known to bad too. i was also raised a bow tie guy. and when i got my 95 GT, I also looked at a 95 formula firebird (350, 6-speed). obviously I chose the GT. I've ran into the probs already stated: HB, Dizzy, Defroster vents (vac. line). welcome

    How can you tell if your car is pinging?

    pinging sounds like BB's in a soda can. mine only did it when the coolant temp was hi enough to turn on the cooling fan. At the time i was running 87 octane. i stepped up to mid grade fuel and have not heard it sense. i'm also only running 12* timing, so it varies from car to car.

    you should only have 1/2-1"reveal on the tips. i'd be afraid if you cut the tips down to the size you need , you might get rust on the fresh cut if they're chrome. if they're a good quality stainless you'll be good.

    clean the maf. it's possible a vac leak could cause it too. do the maf and iac first and see how that reacts.. how old is the tune up? it's good to have a solid base before you start throwing parts at it.
