    1968 289 H2O

Cylinders 1-4 At .030 over I don't have much wiggle room, I believe it's common to go .040 over so maybe there's some machining left to do. The cylinders on the east side look good no ridges on the top like you can normally see or feel (since the pistons don't reach all the way to the top...

Some Random Bits Of Information I used the rubber hose trick on the connecting rod studs to protect things from getting scratched. I also learned what the difference between fuel line and fuel injection hose is... yeah it's about $3.00 bucks per foot, LOL. My old hose was too brittle and...

    CAM Question

That's like a fat guy telling you he doesn't know how much he weighs, or a short guy how tall he is. They know exactly how much they weigh and how tall or I should say how short they are, LOL. I bet it is a stock CAM, because if they put something fancy shmancy in it he would be bragging...

    302 heads on a 289

So which number do you go by in case of a conflict, for example my 289 heads have these numbers: 7H9 (1967 August 9) yet they are stamped C80E (1968) in this case this makes a big difference the 64-67 heads had smaller combustion chambers therefor yielded higher compression and were more...

Piston Popper 3000 So how did I get those pistons out? Well I used the Piston Popper 3000, and you thought stir sticks were just for mixing paint! Note how the con rods were enumerated whilst previously being rebuilt, this was tremendously helpful.

Removing Pistons 1-4 Spent Saturday removing the pistons. Learned I have Flatlander Racing TRW L2249N 30 over forged (pronounced expen$ive) domed pistons. The preceding L in the part number stands for Forged, that makes sense L=Forged... Not! but since when are part numbering schemes logical...

Gene, Gene, Gene I was going to give you shiet until I re read it, and noted the "when I was 17" otherwise I was thinking don't you check the oil using the dip stick when ever you buy a car?

    How much rwhp.. ?

Did the etc include pistons, I am honestly trying to figure out why that motor dynoes so low. What pistons and rings did you run, stock?

    How much rwhp.. ?

I am not arguing with you but you said 335 and it dynoed at just under 295, that is 40 horse off not 10, yes you did say plus or minus 20 but that doesn't mean 10 off on top of your margin of error, anyway the point is there is no substitute for just dynoing the darn car if you are serious about...

    1966 to 2011 Conversion

Love the front facia on this white one, front valance / bumper what ever you call it. The skinny front bumpers on the first gens remind me of the thin pencil mustache.

    How much rwhp.. ?

Please don't take this the wrong way, I am not trying to be a jerk, but that's not even 1 hp per 1 ci, ie the ol' milestone of engine building, you can beat that with a high compression 289, so nothing to write home about, more importantly how much did that cost you?

    How much rwhp.. ?

Dude I never said it was, I was replying to robbz28 comment: "This is just my estimate, but I would say about 420 flywheel horses and about 335 rear wheel horses. + or - 20 horses."
