    Rewiring a Classic Mustang

Step 2 Continued Getting the old harness out is what's on the menu. This isn't the most delicate and precise operation but then again you don't want go at it with a pair of box cutters either. I'll give a few tips to make it go a little smoother. Since I already got the engine and front light...

Painless vs. American Autowire Chassis Wiring Harnesses

Thanks! I think I'm now clear on most of it. One thing I'm still not 100% on is the routing of the under dash wiring. From their picture it looks like it goes up all the way back against the firewall butted up against the bottom of the dash, or in other words way the hell back there. I...

Painless vs. American Autowire Chassis Wiring Harnesses

Ok I'm going to update my questions. I have come to the conclusion that the "new engine hole" is actually the hole that had the engine feed harness running through it. (aka the oil pressure, temperature, coil etc. leads). If that is the case their illustration isn't so good. Next up is my...

Painless vs. American Autowire Chassis Wiring Harnesses

Thanks for all the help so far. It has been very useful to me so far and I'm hoping it will help others in my "how to thread" on this subject. I'm kind of running into a stalling point. I've got my old harness out and have tried to start routing the bundles according to AAW's illustration...

    Rewiring a Classic Mustang

Step 2 This will be a two part writeup as I have yet to completely remove my old wiring harness. I did remove the engine harness shortly after it shorted out and "let the smoke out". At this point you're probably wondering where you should start. The AAW instructions are not structured in a...

Optimus Prime - The '68 Coupe

Shameless post coming. Felt I owed it to the stangnet community to point this out. Ok I'm done :D

    Rewiring a Classic Mustang

Step 1: Familiarizing yourself with the instructions, the harness, and all the components. This would seem obvious to most, however if you are anything like me you're so eager to get started that you'll just jump into the project before familiarizing yourself with what everything is, what has...

Complete floor assembly (full floor pan all the way to the trunk)

Keep us posted, this looks really cool. Good luck to you. I can't offer anything else other than my encouragement since I have no experience in this

Optimus Prime - The '68 Coupe

Looking good man, keep it up. Those side vents on my 67 are also a source of frustration, I tried years ago to get them off but couldn't figure how to get a tool in there. What did you end up using, the wrench in the picture?

Painless vs. American Autowire Chassis Wiring Harnesses

Ok thanks. I'll proceed that way. Did you find the best approach to installing everything is to route all the circuit branches where they go under the dash before attempting to mount the fusebox? I tried mounting the box first but it looks like it will be hard to manage all the branches that way.

    Rewiring a Classic Mustang

I thought I'd share with you my experience rewiring a classic Mustang using a modified American Autowire (AAW) chassis wiring harness. This thread will be an update as I go because I am writing it in the midst of installing the kit. Now while the kit I am using is AAW, much of the information...

Painless vs. American Autowire Chassis Wiring Harnesses

I got started today installing my AAW harness and am going to make a separate thread documenting my progress for those who are interested, however before I get too involved I thought I'd ask a question to those who have done this things before. Do you recommend removing the entire old harness...

    Ride Height

Ok so I went ahead and measured today Front (Top of fender to center of wheel): 15 1/4" Rear (Top of fender to center of wheel): 13 1/4" So yeah, my front is sitting much higher than the rear, I'm hoping it will drop once I get everything on the front end, get it aligned and work them...

    Clutch Pedals

Oh, one other thing. Does the Mustang share a clutch pedal with any other car from 67 besides the Cougar?

1966 Mustang no rust repair but we are still going to cut it up

Just wondering here, what tools did you use to get down to the shiny bare metal on your aprons? Was it a sanding flapper disc on an angle grinder and/or a wire wheel on an angle grinder?

    Clutch Pedals

Yeah if I could find a used one for under $50 I'd prefer that. New ones would be ok but converting to manual is going to pricey and I'd like to keep the cost down as much as possible.

    Ride Height

I should have measured the ride height before I took all the old stuff off  I'll measure when I see the car this weekend and post. I'm still missing some weight on the front end though, no fluids are in the car, I only have the fenders and hood on, radiator is out, etc. Maybe it'll sit...

Will a 65-66 clutch pedal work with a 67 car?
