    Cats or Off-Road X Pipe

Question: Anyone ever dyno with same basic mods, but an O/R v. catted pipe? I'm wondering what the performance difference might be?

    Hypothetical motor question, let's dream!

I think building a P&P setup is a pretty good idea - I also believe that when you start to see better flow due to the heads and cams that an intake would be beneficial - If I had the $$$ right now I'd do the Bullitt intake or something similar, but I just dropped my money into the head/cam swap...

    Kenne Bell Acting Funny

I would never trust a chip until after I had it on a dyno with a wideband - every car is different and reacts differently to mods - until you know for sure you're safe and your a/f is exactly where it should be trips to 140 can be very hazardous to your car (and your health).... My .02

    To DR, or to Not.

How much do you drive your car, bro? If it's a daily driver maybe a wider street tire, like the 555 you mentioned - good wear, reasonable traction, etc. I don't drive mine all that much, so I can still get a couple years out of D/R's, otherwise I probably would have picked a different route...

    To DR, or to Not.

Are you talking RT or 60' - I haven't been to the track, but noticed a definite improvement in traction with the Nitto D/R's. In my opinion, the question would be - Do I want to replace tires every 10K or 30K (depending on how you drive.). Jay

Rear LCA's/Rear End Gear Problem (Opinions)

There is a u-joint back there, but from my experience doing my own LCA's and springs there is still a spec pinion angle. Good luck getting it sorted out - sorry I couldn't be of more help. Jay

Rear LCA's/Rear End Gear Problem (Opinions)

The angle the drive shaft meets the rear end - when you make major suspension changes (lowering springs, lca's, etc.) you change the angle the driveshaft meets the differential.

    Help! Car Stuttering Running Rich

Unmetered air would cause a lean condition. Have you checked the O2 sensors? It sounds like it's stuck in open loop after you floor it. Have you checked the TPS voltage? I'm wondering if your TPS is shot and sending a high voltage after you get on it? Just guesses here.... No check engine...

    Hypothetical motor question, let's dream!

Well, if I were to have a 96GT and come into some $$$ the first thing I'd do is have the stock heads replaced with PI heads and aftermarket cams (say VT stage I billet cams) - maybe ported heads, even. PI or aftermarket intake, larger injectors to provide fuel for the 290 or so RWHP (24-30#'s)...

Rear LCA's/Rear End Gear Problem (Opinions)

First, and foremost, have the alignment checked 80-90% of alignment problems are up front - even if the rear end is causing a push the front tires will still wear in an irregular fashion from having to correct the push (ie. turning the wheel slightly to compensate). Feel the inside and outside...

Going on a Stangnet Shopping Spree

Sounds like a great start so far! Personally I would go the suspension route - it's a great feeling to drive the car when it feels more responsive and hooks better. You might consider the plenum and t/b later on, but you'll feel the difference already with what you're getting, so why not handle...

    $3000 to spend. HELP!

Well, with Fords adherence to warranty policy it seems as though anything you do that's not cosmetic will void your warranty on any all related components. How long is your warranty? Can you cash out the extended plan if that's what you're on? Also, at 4-5K a year are you really expecting...

    $3000 to spend. HELP!

I'm with John on this - if you want to put $3,000 into the car it depends on what direction you're going. If you want the car to be all show, you can drop $1,000 or so on billet engine and interior pieces and another $2,000 into body pieces. As far as performance, if you just want the car to...

    More mods... Couple Questions??

I'm wondering what the value would be to adding a catback and induction set up to my car? Currently, I have flows welded in and due to a problem with interference with the MAF I pulled my old CAI and I'm using the stock tube between the MAF & TB with an adapter off the end of the MAF for the...

How do I get the rear bottom seat cushions out?

Under the front of the cushion there is a push on clip on each side - you need to get under the cushion with a flatblade screwdriver and feel around. Once you're on it, put the blade in front of it and push it in - each side will pop up noticeably. Jay

Doing cams & found a nasty problem on my head

I have the Patriot heads and the workmanship was excellent - several people commented on the job they did on the combustion chamber. With the VT cams, the car pulls like crazy - it's a shame I only feel comfortable reving it to 6K on the stock bottom end - it feels like it's still building...

    Cams & Heads (Vid)

Scott, What kind of fuel system mods have you done? Could it be a fuel pressure problem in closed loop? I believe the O2's read from .25 - 1.0V, correct? What you would probably see is wildly varying voltage as the PCM tries to find 14.6/14.7:1 A/F. I installed both an A/F gauge and Fuel...

    Cams & Heads (Vid)

No problems at all - seems to take a second to come off idle, but past about 1500 RPM it takes off. There isn't any hesitation, and it's probably no different from the performance standpoint than it was before, but over 2K there is absolutely no comparison in performance - it pulls all the way...
