    Cometic Head Gaskets LEAKING!

Exactly, I wanted them because of their superior sealing strength. Also I plan to run a procharger in the future and wanted high performance gaskets that could support high cylinder pressures. Another reason was at the time Cometic was the only MLS gasket company I could find (now Felpro has MLS...

    Cometic Head Gaskets LEAKING!

Thanks! I may not be until January also, I am very busy at the moment. I talked to a couple engine builders and they do not sell or recommend Cometic for this reason. They said use the MLS Felpro Permatorque gaskets, which is what I am going to do along with head studs.

    Cometic Head Gaskets LEAKING!

Interesting point. That could be the problem. Couldn't overtorquing 7/16" bolts cause other problems?

    Cometic Head Gaskets LEAKING!

Thanks! Looks like this winter I will betting ARP studs with bushings and Felpro MLS Permatorque gaskets. I'll see if I can send the Cometics back to Cometic and get my money back but we will have to see about that. Not to bad but still a pain. I'm glad I am still doing a couple other fun...

    EGR / Charcoal Box?

+1 that is the exact reason(s) I decided to keep the EGR and Charcoal Canister. But what you can do is delete the coolant lines that go to the EGR spacer (if you don't drive the stang in the winter, the coolant is for cold starts).

    Axle back exhaust, which one?

Kooldawg, very nice sounding setup! :nice: Yes finally someone agrees with me. The orginal poster asked for an axle back that would have a good tune and not like a race car. Corsa axle back and x pipe is pretty loud from the outside, I was surprised the difference from in the car and...

    Cometic Head Gaskets LEAKING!

Hmm that's interesting, I called Cometic while my block was being machined (brand new Ford 302 Sportsman) and asked them if there needed to be any special finish (also asked if they needed to be sprayed with copper), they said that it does not need a special finish or anything of that sort. I...

Yes I did use arp thread sealant on my short head bolts. Where did you get the studs you are talking about? Are they ARP?

    Cometic Head Gaskets LEAKING!

I used ARP bolts with mine (I intended to go with studs, but I am running victor jr heads, and they have 1/2" openings, while my block has 7/16). I have a sportsman 302 block and I had it decked and the head surface looked at.
