    Thunderbird's First Flight

I took my new(to me) $100 Thunderbird out for a quick spin tonight. First impression is WHEEEEE! The low end torque of the 5.0 really feels nice. I can't wait to modify it and make even more power with it. It takes almost nothing to do a torque stand and make the tires sqeal. This is a...

    T-Bird 5.0 Info Please

I will take a few pics tonight and try to get them posted. I have seen the MAF HO engines before and the FI non-HO engines (1990 Crown Vic Wagon) and this looks more like a HO setup.

    T-Bird 5.0 Info Please

Thanks, I will probably stay on here for most of the engine stuff. It was a steal, especially since a broken ignition switch was the reason he got rid of it. I work at a parts store so it only cost me $11 for the part.

    T-Bird 5.0 Info Please

Here I am in the land that 5.0 built. I picked up a Thunderbird today very cheaply ($100) and I now own a car with a V8 again. It is a 91 with a 5.0 HO engine in it and I have tried to find a site equivalent to Stangnet for it without any success. If anyone here could direct me to a good...

    Turbos and Ethanol

First of all, know I have not been here in a while, if anyone remembers me :D Second, I am glad this thread caught my eye, as burning ethanol or E85 is something I have been interested in doing for a while now. I have 2 E85 filling stations within 40 miles of my house, one is by my school...

Help me find if this header will fit my 89'

If you want a header you could probably get a Ranger header cheaper than that one will cost you in shipping. The Ranger header is also a direct bolt up to the exhaust system, except for the EGR.

sudden loss of oil pressure in 92 2.3

No engine pulling required. Just remove the motor mount bolts, suspend the engine, and get to work. On Stingers website he has instructions that involve loosening the crossmember bolts. That idea sounds good too, I will probably try that one next.

    Merkur Turbo PSI

Pit, are you saying that a stock (.60/.63) T3 could run higher than 15 psi without an IC? I just turned mine up to 15psi, and have been toying with the idea of more boost?

I really need you guys help on this one

A fuel filter is one of the easiest things to check and should be part of routine maintenance. I have heard you mention your belt timing a couple times. In one case you said that the timing mark on the acessory belt needs to be straight up. If you were meaning the auxillary shaft that is...

    Boost Fluctuations

I will try that Stinger, but it is brand new. I took it out of the box and put it in. Still worth a shot though. I even checked that little bleed hole when I put it on.

I have a car on my kill list now.

I have yet to be at a track. My stepfather and I will go this summer. We are going to make it a family thing. The one time I was challenged was on a busy street in town and it was by three teenagers in an Olds Cutlass (one of the FWD V6's). I was stuck behind a minivan.

I have a car on my kill list now.

It is not that impressive though. It is a 2001 Cavalier Z24 convertible. Not terrible impressive but one has to start somwhere. I went with my buddy and his girlfriend to another friends house up in Ottumwa to a party. My buddy's GF (Leslie) wanted to drive and I asked if she could drive...

    Bastards!!!!!

I remember a thread last fall where we talked about this. My engine was bored .030 over and I was told that I picked up a couple cubic inches from this. The original 140cilx did not like the idea of me changing my name to 142cilx. I think I will change my name to...

    Taurus ECC-IV in the stang?!

87 ECU is a speed density system, any from 87-90 will work there. 92 is a MAF system, used between 91-93

    Knock sensor all knocked up...

You put in another MAF sensor or knock sensor? Please clarify did you unplug the MAF sensor? Try cleaning the MAF sensor, they sometimes get gunk over the filament in there and can give in an inaccurate reading.

Am I a free-thinker or, have I finaly lost it?

Isn't the 4.0L what they are using in the new base model Mustangs? I could see at least a mild aftermarket potential there.

    2.3 N/A build-up

Try getting a ranger header from a JY ($25-$45). You can also cut the air box or just get a K&N to go over the MAF. If you have the tools to port the head and stuff go for it. I read somewhere that the DP heads are the most restrictive though. Maybe you could shave the head for more...
