Anyone out there done a gear change themselves?

I swapped out the 3.31's to 3.73's two weeks ago. Did carbon fibre trac loc clutches at the same time. I'd heard horror stories about the S spring but I used the hose clamp trick and it worked like a charm. I got lucky and the backlash and gear patterns were near perfect with the original shims...

Sattelite radio antenna mounting location question - 2006 GT

I switched to XM too as part of my Avic F90BT install. I just swapped the connector on the end of the factory Sirius antenna and connected it to the XM receiver. Works great!

2010 Mustang Rust --Glass spots--Engine tap

What part of the country are you in? The exhaust/facia problem is literally a five minute adjustment that you could have done yourself with even the most basic hand tools long before it ever melted the facia. It's not clear what kind of engine "taping" you're talking about. What does it sound...

Sattelite radio antenna mounting location question - 2006 GT

Mine is in the middle of the trunk lid. I also have a NAV antenna in the center of the dash up against the glass inside the car. It seems to work fine. You might want to try it there as an experiment before making any mods to the exterior.

Tire Pressure Monitors, Are they needed?

The tire shops around here now have a policy that, if your car is so equipped, the TPMS sensors have to be installed and working before they'll release the car back to you. Apparently the courts consider them experts that should know better than to bypass "safety" systems even on the...

How do you make your loved ones understand...

My wife has absolutely NO interest in my car, car shows, cruises etc. She won't even ride in the car - it's too rough/loud/hard to see out of. She complained once about the parts I was buying and found out that that wasn't a good idea. Sometimes I think it would be nice if she showed some...

My hood is about to FLY OFF!

I have the Scott Drake pins. I like them better than the less expensive versions because if you pop the hood latch without remembering to undo the pins first, the billet plate won't bend (as does the flat chrome plate on the less expensive versions). My hood is stable as can be up to 160.

    question on blown S197s

If you can find one with the Gen II Whipple HO kit, pulley it down to 6 to 8 psi and get a good dyno tune. You'll have the benefit of the upgraded fuel delivery and the intercooler and you won't be pushing the internals too hard. 3.73 gears and a good clutch and the combo should last a long time...

    Timing chain

"In there" in terms of a cam swap is not "in there" in terms of timing chains - not even very close.

    Timing chain

Replacing the timing chains is a much bigger job than just the hotrod cam swap. It includes removal of the front cover and the tensioners, guides etc rather than just the valve covers. At 60K I wouldn't think that it'd be necessary at all.

    A question for the experts

If you're considering a supercharger be very realistic about your budget before you even start. Most people look at the cost of the kit and forget that you'll probably want additional gauges (boost, fuel pressure, wideband AFR for example) and a pod to put them in. Depending on the kit, you...
