Came home with a new commuter (that I f'd up on day 2....)

You know, I just now got it..... Must be all of the paint fumes - it most definitely is!

Came home with a new commuter (that I f'd up on day 2....)

Yep - flash times were 10-20 minutes for clear. So I was giving it about 15 minutes every time. The run/sag was probably my fault for holding the gun too long in that spot, or maybe I sprayed too much there. I attacked the car from the 3 sides, and there would be overlap on that corner for the...

    Fox Xtremely high fuel consumption

The fuel lost per mile would only be maybe .05 gallons, or .2 liters per mile. Seems like a small drip somewhere that could be exacerbated by increased flow when cruising might be a likely culprit. Has the fuel tank been dropped recently? I'm wondering if it's leaking at the lines coming from...

Came home with a new commuter (that I f'd up on day 2....)

3 coats of clear and only one major run that I see after a quick walk around. I'm done for the weekend. I'll likely go out and look at it again before I leave for work, but I don't intend to do anything with it til tomorrow.

    Fox Xtremely high fuel consumption

I agree that something is off here and am curious to find out what the actual culprit is. The only thing I can offer/share is that my Cobra II is a very similar setup. The one and only time I recorded fuel mileage with it was when I road tripped it from Atlanta to Mustang Week in Myrtle Beach...

Came home with a new commuter (that I f'd up on day 2....)

Sorry, not familiar with feetamo. In case this answers the question - it's urethane high build, urethane base coat, and it will be getting a few coats of clear later tonight before I have to go to work. Here's what I used: https://repaintsupply.com/standard-large-paint-kit/...

Came home with a new commuter (that I f'd up on day 2....)

2 coats of black. Not horrible for the first time painting a car if I don't say so myself. ;) There are a couple spots where something settled in the paint, though I tacked it before I sprayed, so I have no idea where it came from. And there are a couple runs, otherwise I think it looks pretty...

Almost midnight around these parts - just washed all of the dust off. Gonna give it a bit to dry before I go back to it again....

Came home with a new commuter (that I f'd up on day 2....)

I'd go along with that.... Threw a wrench in the "color gets sprayed today" idea - had to run into Iowa City to pick up guide coat and more sand paper, so that ate a couple hours. And I'm starting 3rd shift tomorrow night, so I was in bed til 230. Been sanding for the last 3-4 hours, I'm almost...

Our speedometers are mechanically driven so there should be no need to install a resistor for it.

Looks great! As they probably should've done..... I hear ya with the LED brightness. I've atill not had my II out at night since I changed mine out, but I'd imagine I may have problems seeing out the windows.... :rlaugh: I did the same when I wired my gauge lights, they thankfully...

It's not perfect, but it'll be good enough. Color gets sprayed tomorrow.

    Bored with my 73

Welcome to the site! I believe an Edelbrock carburetor may run decent right out of the box, but like any carb it will need to be adjusted to run optimally. I believe the vapor lock problem may be a separate issue though. Carbureted cars run a lower fuel pressure through smaller lines, so any...

    Fox Xtremely high fuel consumption

One thing I didn't see mentioned anywhere was ignition timing. Might sound silly, but are the wires routed correctly and is timing set properly?

Came home with a new commuter (that I f'd up on day 2....)

Worked on the Scion a bit more today. I think it's just about good enough, but I'm sure I'll probably end up doing more. The plan is to get it painted next weekend and hopefully put back together. :cross:

96 GT 4.6 w/ dirty spark plug well

Might be a little late to suggest this, but in addition to using a pick to scratch at everything, use some compressed air to blow everything out if you're able. You don't necessarily need an air compressor to do this if you don't have access to one. You can pick up cans of compressed air from...
