    You're interpreting this incorrectly. They think that having someone build it who does it for a living will allow to last longer than if they do it themselves. Some of us are fully capable of building engines, some of us, not so much.

    I bought an '84.5 GT350 7 years ago and my wife confiscated it, so I don't get to drive it anymore. She went to look at the '91 convertible with me, and it was so clean and rust free, she encouraged me to buy it. She also owns 7 '68/69 Mustangs of varying models, so she has no room to talk.

    If the back window is the only problem with the top, that is also very minor. I'd probably offer something like 10% less than they're asking. It doesn't sound like a bad deal to me.

    The paint is the expensive part. All of that other stuff is pretty minor. What kind of condition is the top in?

    I don't think a compression test will tell you if it's the head or intake gasket. A shop has a tool to test for exhaust gases in your radiator. If you have that, it's definitely a head gasket.

    No, that is not normal at all. You probably have a leaky head or manifold gasket.

    No, it was $975 for a rebuilt, $1295 for a new one from Summit.

    They're sending my transmission off as a core, and getting a different rebuilt transmission.

    He said he pulled the input shaft out and the shaft and bearings were bad. I also know the case is cracked at the drain plug. :leaving:

    I don't know who the rebuilder is. I do know it's not the shop. They may have a markup on the rebuild as well.
