Shock Tower Replacements and Reinforcement Kits

Haha thanks, luckily I've already gotten the entire front end off. I bought a complete suspension rebuild kit for it and decided to strip and repaint the frame rails and inner fender with POR-15 while I had the suspension off. Well this is when I discovered the shock tower problem. So I've...

Shock Tower Replacements and Reinforcement Kits

Haha yeah I already spoke with him about the big block kit, I think we are going to resort to fabbing. It will take a little more time but it will save some dough. In regards to the alignment of the towers, there are 6 holes that run through the inner fender and shock tower, is aligning the...

Shock Tower Replacements and Reinforcement Kits

Thanks for the pictures and recommendations guys and I'm not going to be jumping into this project on my own. I have a friend who is very good with this kind of thing and he'll will be performing most of the difficult work with me as a helper so to speak. I hope to get a good lesson in all of...

Shock Tower Replacements and Reinforcement Kits

That looks pretty good. Do any of you know if there is a writeup on this kind of thing? I've never welded anything before but I will be taking it a friend's place who can weld well. rnrjunkie or anyone who can answer - When you bought the replacement towers they were one piece right? You...

Shock Tower Replacements and Reinforcement Kits

:rlaugh: Does anyone have pictures of the reinforcement kit installed? Or a good picture of the big block cars shock towers? I'm not sure if the welder I'll be using is capable of laying down that bead that you have there rnrjunkie. Do you have some more detailed pictures of it?

Shock Tower Replacements and Reinforcement Kits

In the end I want about 400 WHP out of a carbed small block. I plan on setting it up for occassional track days and spirited street driving. By track days I mean road or circuit racing, I don't really plan on drag racing.

Shock Tower Replacements and Reinforcement Kits

Yep I definately plan on replacing them. I mean look at this: Each one has about a 12" long crack too that wasn't home welded either. I was just wondering if there is any difference in quality in the replacement towers available or if they are basically all the same and also if in...

Shock Tower Replacements and Reinforcement Kits

I'm going to be replacing my badly crack shock towers in the next week or two, but before I do I wanted to run a few questions by you guys and gals about stuff I need to buy and your opinions on what I may or may not need. First, shock towers. What should I get? Are all the of reproduction...

Liquid Nails, a substitute for seam sealer?

The seam sealer I bought was just a generic version I found at autozone. Would I be better off ordering the 3M?

    Interior Front Frame Rail Rust

Cool thanks for the reassurance guys. The inside of the frame rails (in the engine bay) are in equal or better shape as the outside. Kttrucks: I've been applying POR-15 to the frame rails and inner fenders, do you know if POR-15 has a product like this? Is this the one from eastwood you...

    Interior Front Frame Rail Rust

Yeah I didn't do a very good job with my description. This is the area I'm talking about. I looked and felt up in there and it doesn't seem to be too bad. Everything I could feel and see was just surface rust. It seems like the worst area is the seam between the two layers of...

    Interior Front Frame Rail Rust

I'll try to describe this as best as I can without pictures (I'll add them later when it's not dark out). On bottom of both front frame rails there is an oval hole near the radiator core support. This leaves the inside of the front frame rails exposed to the elements. From everything I can tell...

    1967 unidentified foot lever

I actually find that little pedal quite handy. I wish more cars would use something like that. It's very natural, same with the dimmer switch. :)

Liquid Nails, a substitute for seam sealer?

Ok cool thanks. This is my first time using it. Do you apply it wherever two panels meet that are welded?

Liquid Nails, a substitute for seam sealer?

Well I called Autozone and they said they had it, odd because I couldn't find it at O'Reillys. I figured Autozone wouldn't have it either. I'll update my question then. I'm applying POR-15 to my inner fender. Do I put the seam sealer on before or after painting? Where should it go on the...

Liquid Nails, a substitute for seam sealer?

I've heard that liquid nails can be used as a substitute for seam sealer. Is this true? I've read that the actual seam sealer is the 3M Seam Sealer, but I'm not sure where I can get it locally...especially on July 4th.

Ignition Box Mounting Location. 65 Mustang

I mainly added the fan because I never got a straight answer as to how well the MSD boxes handle enclosed areas. I spoke with an MSD tech on the phone who said the mounting location would be ok and shouldn't do any harm to the box even though it says in the manual that they do not recommend...

Really Really need help with car not starting

Have you tried rotating the rotor 180* yet? I was a 180* off on my first attempt to start the car and had all sorts of weird backfiring issues. Never could keep it running. Once I got the timing down it ran well. As far as the voltage regulator goes I would think you could get the car started...
