    289 Cam Failure

I have had 2 Edelbrock Performer RPM cams wipe a lobe, or lobes.. You say you built the engine 7 years ago, but now have a failure? Did the engine sit for that long, before you ran it? My failures turned out to be push rod related/coil binding. Did you use a custom push rod? I agree it is...

    Le Mans Bowl Fittings

I recently acquired a 4118 Holley, that came with the Lemans fuel bowls. However, the previous owner didn't use the correct fuel line. The steel line is the easy part. I would like to find out if there is a common brass solution? Specifically sizes that I can order online? I don't have easy...

    Power Brakes With Manual Tranny?

I don't think it matters, really. As long as you have the dual MC, and proportioning valve, you should be good to go.

Dissapointing Results - Have I Missed Something?

I'm sure they checked it, but I didn't see the numbers...I also think that the carb is too small, and you might be happier with a performer RPM intake and a 650 CFM. What size exhaust pipe are you using? 2 inch? 2 1/4?

    Engine Options (socal)

I would look at swapping the trick flow heads, for another aftermarket head. A roller block will give you a lot more options when it comes to camshaft selection.

    Dizzy Making Me Dizzy

Was it it this kit? http://www.summitracing.com/parts/edl-2027 If you didn't measure for push rods, that absolutely can be a problem. Also, keep in mind that you now have guide plates, and that requires a hardened push rod.

How much camshaft did you install? Did you measure for push rods? Did you use roller rockers, or did you use the stock, non adjustable rocker arms?

    A 5.0 Block With Toploader Trans-in A 67

I will not recommend Trick Flow heads. I bought a pair several years ago, before I knew as much, as I know now. (Obviously) In 2005, I got a pair that are good for the shorter lift cam: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/tfs-51400002-m61/all In 2012, I finally got around to getting the engine...

    Re-gear Vs Overdrive

I have a 3.50 gear in my 68, with a T-5 trans. I also have the Edelbrock performer RPM cam in that engine. (.496/.520 lift) I would base the rear gear at least as much around the cam, as the desire for highway mileage. My engine pulls very well, but I would be happier with the performance with a...

Is This Carb Too Much For My Setup?

I'm going to guess that your carb is no larger than a 600 CFM, and so no, it isn't too big for the 289. Are you talking about the aluminum tag that bolts on to the carb? How long has the car sat with out being run? Here is a link, that may help you identify your carburetor...
