    pedestal vs. stud mount

I would buy the Steeda 1.6 paired shaft mount adjustable rockers for pedestal type heads. Not the "cheap" option (they cost $350) but the best IMO. Stronger and more stable than single stud mount too. http://www.steeda.com/store/-catalog/shaftrocker.htm

    Wheel & Tire Question

You may need to remove the quad shocks, but they should fit fine otherwise. A 7" factory wheel is really too skinny for a 10.5 tire. You may want to look at wheels at least 8" wide (best would be 10" wide)

    Tune Up Parts?

Trans was recently replaced. So it has fresh fliud in it. Diff was also recently open for clutch pack rebuild, but it will be reopened in the Spring for gears. Brake fliud change? ROTFL Sorry. I don't buy into that. As long as the brake fluid isn't contaminated, it gets left alone, or...

98 cobra tranny on 97 GT

Not hard at all. I did the same thing on my '98. Bought a '96 Cobra T45 and swapped the tailshafts and it bolted right in.

Yes I did go to the track and yes I did go faster by almost .75. Not huge, but I did go faster.

Yet another B-cam thread, install or not?

Wrong, wrong and wrong. I have a B cam in a other wise stock engine and it is not too big, the car is faster and the driveability is just as good as stock.

    Winter Tire Selection

I drive my totally stock '98 GT year round with 15" V6 wheels and 4 studded snow tires. Goes quite well in the crappy stuff. As for the $1500 jalopy, that's what you have insurance and the courts for. FORGET the blizaks. Get Winterforce tires (with or without studs) and 15" steel wheels...

making my car quieter what to buy?

If it's the drone you don't like inside the car you need resonators. Almost all cars come from the factory with them. A friend of mine put a big one in his street rod trucka nd it is night and day different inside the truck but still sounds mean under throttle and at idle.

    HELP QUICK? 4.25 backspacing?

They will stick out exactly 1" more than these (my car with 16x8 and 5.25" backspace in the back). The front's on my car are also equivelent to an 8" wheel with 5.25" backspace.

    5 lug

For an '86 the cheapest way to go 5 lug is 1st generation Ranger 4x2 front brake rotors and the standard Ranger rear axle conversion all Fox's can use. '79-'86 Mustang 4 lug rotors use the same bearings and are the same diameter as the '83-'88 (for sure, through '93 as well I think) 4x2...

    Why do stock gauges suck?

That's not even close to true. Autometer, Autogauge, VDO, etc... tachs and guages are definitly more accurate than stock. Speedos probably are too, but that's not so importent.

3.08's to 3.73's How big of a difference is it?

Just do it. It's a significant difference. You'll like it

    Why do stock gauges suck?

Because when the car was designed it was designed around the idea that that average driver is 5' 10" tall. The industry standard. All cars are designed with a spec of what an average driver height is and then things are placed where they need to be so the most possible drivers can see...

    AOD Shifters

The 1-D-1 shuffle is the fasted way to ruin an AOD. A shifter will not give you easy access to 2nd. That is controlled internally within the valvebody. You will need a PA or LenTech valvebody for that.

    Stainless or not?

If you drive the car in the winter, no brainer, get the full stainless cat-back. Inf act just get the stainless cat-back it's not much more (if memory serves) and it'll last a lot longer.
