    Trans Leak In '91 2.3

Absolutely, happens all the time. It can also overflow if its under filled, the fluid can foam, and expand, then it will puke out the overflow tube. But you could also be leaking from any number of other seals.

    2.3 Performance Help!

That being said, the vehicle came stock with a CAI. Its stock exhaust is also suitably sized. They will gain you little. You could port the heads and run larger valves, those should pick up a little. Don't expect miracles though, it would outrun any stock 2.3L N/A at that point, but is...

    89 2.3l To Turbo

Right you are, but since the OP is asking about a Ranger (truck) engine, you have to cover the bases, since '89 Ranger engines are dual plug. If you have a later year dual plug car, you are better off keeping the dual plug setup and just swapping in the forged turbo internals. If you want to...

    89 2.3l To Turbo

Actually the nail was missed again. On the N/A 4 plug heads, they have a heart shaped chamber, which raises the compression to about 8.5:1 if you use it on a turbo motor. But if you use the '89 - '94 8 plug head, they use an open chamber that is more similar in design to a turbo head, i.e...

    Need Some More Experienced Help

I have a similar question. I have an '87 Thunderbird TC which is also a fox body car. Will Mustang seats fit in that too?

    89 2.3l To Turbo

Not trying to disagree with you, it is true the Mustang didn't get the 8 plug head till 1991, but the Ranger had it in 1989. So if your dealing with a genuine never been swapped or modified 1989 Ranger 2.3L, it should have the dual plug head.

    89 2.3l To Turbo

Isn't an '89 an 8 plug head. If thats the case, you are best of getting a 2.3L turbo motor and swapping your pistons over to your existing motor. The rods and crank are the same between turbo and non-turbo motors of the era. Turbo motors also have better valves and larger injectors (either #30...

    Svo Going Lean

You do realize that at those RPMs, you are in the peak cylinder pressure range, which is right where spark blowout can start happening, even at low boost. This blowout causes misfires, which in turn causes unburned fuel and air, which the sensor will read as lean. If you have anything else...

    A4LD to C4 swap

Sorry my bad. I guess I had bad info on the C4. The A4LD can be built to take 300 hp as well, but in stock form they are quite weak. If you can get the right bellhousing, conterters, mounts etc, you are welcome to go for it. I have not swapped a C4 in place of an A4LD. The only thing I can...

    A4LD to C4 swap

I would tend to agree. The A4LD is the evolution of the C3/C4. It is superior in every way. It may be possible to swap, but there is no practical reason to do so. Far better to upgrade the A4LD they already have than to mess with a swap anyway.

    2.3 Turbo Carbed

With all the involved complexities, I fail to see why you would ever want to take a step backwards into the fickle world of carberators. Yes what you are trying to do is possible, but you will constantly find yourself fighting the technology. You can run a pull through, but as pointed out, you...

    High NOx(smog help)

High NOX forms when the mixture burns too hot. The EGR helps reduce combustion temperatures under certain conditions, so it could be involved. But there are other things that can cause high NOX. If you have excessive carbon build up in the cylinders, you NOX will be high, or if your engine is...

    Real dis explanation

The Belkin wires are ok, but some cheaper wires can cause seeming unrelated issues. Also lots of performance wires, namely Taylor, Ford Racing, Accel, and MSD can cause seemingly unrelated issues. You would think such wires would be better than OE or standard wires, but basically all such...

Out of curiosity, what kind of wires are you running?

    Real dis explanation

Yeah basically the plugs on the exhaust side I'm pretty sure are primary. Both packs fire waste spark, but only one pack comes online during startup. Each individual coil within the packs fires a primary spark to one cylinder and a waste spark to a different cylinder. There are two coils in...

92 mustang 2.3l swap to 86 tbird turbo

Any electrical speedo that claims to be Ford compatible will work, which is just about all electric speedos. By your description however, I would say you have a blown fuse, a broken or disconnected power or ground. Your instruments should not all fail at the same time unless the power or...

    Power mods and engine ?'s

So the question you need to ask is, does it restrict, or does it induct? If it restricts, then yes, its will cost you power, but it it takes unburned fuel found in the exhaust, converts it into a positive heat and motion, then it becomes less restrictive than a straight pipe. It makes the...

    Power mods and engine ?'s

Its not a cop out, I would need to show you diagrams, mathematic figures. Easy for you to discredit it, but I notice you have no legitimate data or understanding to discredit me either. I work in the exhaust industry, have a background in mechanical engineering. The rest of that post I...
