    spark plugs

Yes, the dielectric compound makes a better connection between the two parts. Less resistance = more spark, It won't add 50 HP or anything but for $1 a packet you cant go wrong. As far as finding the better plug, I'll leave that question to someone else.

    Potential emissions tricks, worth trying???

I checked the laws here near chicago, cars have to pass that are 1967 and newer. Which means I'll probably have to pass as long as the car is driveable. :( As far as needing the receipts goes, they'll probably let me retake the test without receipts from a mechanic, however, if it doesn't...

    Potential emissions tricks, worth trying???

Yes, I failed the test once with no cats. 3.9 on hydrocarbons. Went and got some new cats, failed again. 2.6 on hydrocarbons Got a full tune up, oil change, pcv, etc. ran some of that "guaranteed to pass" emissions stuff. car got worse, went back up to 3.7 on hydrocarbons. Now I can't...

Putting stock pullies back on today...

underdrives work with the same size belt, if you have all 3 then you wont need to replace it. Water pump and crank just bolt on, the alternator is gonna require an impact wrench to get it off though. Hope that helps.

Are 24 pound Injectors OK with Speed Density??

From the looks of your setup you probably needed 24's anyway. I was thinking of going with 24's and an adjustable regulator, but after reading this thread I think I'll just get some new 19's.

    Potential emissions tricks, worth trying???

I was also looking at these http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7914202454&category=33554&sspagename=WDVW I see they're not the usual orange topped ones though, would these work?

    Potential emissions tricks, worth trying???

That seems pretty interesting, only prob is I don't have any other wheels to drive while I wait. I've also heard that the internals of the injectors tend to start to wear out once they get up around 100-150k -- leading to one or two of them getting reclogged before long. So I'm thinking that my...

    Potential emissions tricks, worth trying???

so I suppose I have to get a new set then? There's 100k on the old ones, how long do they usually last, also is there any steps I should take to insure that the new ones have a long and happy life? ps I'm gonna change the fuel filter when I do this.

    Potential emissions tricks, worth trying???

Some progress... Yeah, I checked the solenoid, it was working just fine. I went and got the steel lines that run to the back of the heads since I was planning to go get an emissions inspection done today (that'd be the 1st thing they would point out for sure). Anyway, For $80 they told...

    Potential emissions tricks, worth trying???

With the amount of unburned fuel my car is kicking out I would need some pretty big holes. The funny thing is I figured out my gas mileage and I'm getting almost 21 miles to the gallon. Hard to believe you can get such great gas mileage when youre kicking out 4 times the limit of unburned...

    Potential emissions tricks, worth trying???

Well, I don't really need the lines that go to the back of the heads, but if I take it to a mechanic I know that'll be the first thing they tell me I need (especially since it's throwing a code). So I'm going to go to the boneyard tommorrow and pick up those lines. The only other thing I can...

    Potential emissions tricks, worth trying???

Well, I now have new converters, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, air filter, oil, oil filter, timing at 10*, TPS at .97, and that "guaranteed to pass" stuff. I went and took the test again and the car got worse. I tested it right after I installed the cats and it was at 2.6, now I go back and it's...

    Potential emissions tricks, worth trying???

I put a can of that "Guaranteed to pass" stuff a few days ago. It says to add to a full tank of gas and then wait until I get near E, and then fill the tank back up. I'm almost near E, so I'm gonna take a ride and run it till it's low. I was just looking for a little extra insurance with those...

    Potential emissions tricks, worth trying???

I've seen two tricks that look like they might be worth trying, can someone point out if you see any potential problems I would have trying these. 1) Pull the SPOUT connector so the car will run at 10* and not get any computer advancement 2) Pull the power to the #1 injector so that on that...

    Need explanation of code 44,94

Not correct, first the EGR is on the throttle body (nowhere near those lines), second exhaust does not go into the smog pump, compressed air comes OUT of the smog pump and goes into that first valve. The first valve either dumps it out or lets it pass to the second valve. The second valve (under...
