    Coolant Rail

Yup, that's the spot. There is an intake bolt next to that fitting (covered up by the hose in your picture) that runs through a coolant passage. We completely dried the area, then started the engine while watching it 5 of 6 times before we figured out that it was the intake bolt instead of the...

    Coolant Rail

Are you 100% sure it is the fitting that is leaking? I torqued the crap out of that fitting chasing a leak that turned out to be the intake bolt that is next to it. Turned out the bolt didn't have enough sealant on it and was weeping.

Bad vibration at 3000 RPM's and up

When I say "torque" the trans and then the engine, I mean crawl under the car and grab the tailshaft and push it in all directions, up-down, side-to-side, to see how much play there is in the rubber mount that connects the trans to the cross-member. The tailshaft should be fairly solid and you...

Bad vibration at 3000 RPM's and up

The last thing I would check, just to completely rule out the engine or trans, are the mounts. With the DS removed, there is no load on the engine/trans and a bad mount might not reveal itself. Grab the tailshaft of the trans and torque it to see if there is any play....same with the engine...

    UPR Quadrant install?

Great article, Jeremy! We fought the install on a friend's UPR setup and finally decided that he must have the wrong clutch-fork! Did you ever find the best combination for aftermarket quandrants/firewall adjusters? The UPR cable and adjuster are top notch in quality, just wish the quad had...

Bad vibration at 3000 RPM's and up

+1 for 91notchbk! Don't chase the problem with parts...I could fill an entire page with a list of new parts I used to chase a bad computer! :( Roller rockers are noisy, some are very noisy. Try to find someone else running rollers, or have some one very familiar with roller rockers listen to...

Bad vibration at 3000 RPM's and up

I would lean heavily toward the differential being the culprit, if everything else has been swapped/rebuilt. It is also possible that you have a bad wheel-bearing. If the rear-end is stock, it could just be worn out. If a gear-swap was done, it is possible that the lash wasn't set right. It...

Bad vibration at 3000 RPM's and up

Pinion/DS/Tailshaft angle should not be an issue if everything is stock. Does the vibe change when you push in the clutch above 3000 rpm? Does it get worse while accellerating from 3000 up? Let some of the smarter guys (I am not one of them) on here know and they will narrow it down for ya. ;)

Bad vibration at 3000 RPM's and up

I believe he is referring to the angle between the tail-shaft and drive-shaft, and the angle between the drive shaft and the rear diff pinion. These 2 angles should be equal and opposite of each other, or close to it. Ie; +4 deg tail-shaft/DS and -4 deg DS/diff pinion. Any angle causes the DS...

    Couple Questions

You might be OK, and you might not. Putting 100-150 shot on your motor will definitely expose any weaknesses. It all depends on the condition of your motor. I would go for it if your motor is strong as it is, and as long as you can afford the fixes (time and $$$) if needed. It will be fun...

    speedometer gear/VSS question

Before you order that 21 gear, consider this: If you are reading exactly 80mph when you are actually running at true 60mph, your gears are off by 25%. If your speedo gear ratio is 2.857 (20/7), then you need to would need to step up to a 25 driven gear... 25/7 = 1.25% X 20/7. Since a 23T is...

should i feel any shifter vibration at 55+ with 3.90 gears?

Just curious, do you still have the big cast iron damper bolted to the diff housing? This is one of the first things to get stripped off of the car because it weighs 20+lbs. The consequence is feeling some vibration in the drive-line. There are a lot of possible culprits, and it could be more...
