    Mini Starters??

I believe it's the same starter relay for both. The only difference is that the mini starter has two wires going to it from the relay. The starter's power wire is on the hot (battery) side of the relay, rather than the switched side. The second wire is on the switched side of the relay, and...

    Mini Starters??

Old starter on the left. New starter on the right. I'm not sure when, exactly, they went to the compact starter, but I do know that '89s had the old style and '93s had the new style.

    Mini Starters??

If you are just trying to replace the giant chunk of iron that Ford called "a starter" on your '89, you can replace it with a stock starter for a '93. No need to buy a racing starter. You'll have to change your wiring a bit (starter's power cable gets moved to the hot side of the starter...

    Headliner Install

I'd suggest having the old headliner recovered before I'd recommend that. I got a replacement headliner from 50-Resto, and was not real happy with it. The ABS plastic headliner board needed a lot of trimming to fit, and it was hard to cut. I saved the old headliner and will probably get it...

    Question about 3G install.

Cap off the old power wires, tuck them back along the old harness and tpae them there. The other end of the wires terminate at a fuseable link on the solenoid. DO NOT disconnect it from the solenoid. That fuseable link also goes to the voltage regulator. The alternaotr does not have a...

    rear gears for a t56

I did see one T-56 setup that had 1st - 5th gear ratios that were essentially the same as a stock T-5, plus a 0.50:1 6th gear. That would probably be great with 4.10s. You'd have scorching 1st - 4th performance, while 5th and 6th would be great for driveablility.

    rear gears for a t56

Don't go too high with the rear gears. The 6-speed has more gears, closer together, and if your rear end ratio is too high, you'll have to shift through them very quickly. So pick a gear that'll get you up into the power band relatively quickly -- maybe 3.55s. The closer gear...

Check out this crash-n NASCAR qualifing

Damn!! Last speed I saw on the telemetry was 194 mph, but I'm sure it's delayed a little. However, he lost it right at the turn-in, so he was probably still going 180 or so. The word I got from a (then) Winston Cup insider, that it was well known that Earnhardt was "old school"...

    Speedo Gear

What size tires? How many speedometer drive teeth on the C4's output shaft?

What speedo gear do I need?

Given that you are running 26" tires, if the C4 has a 7-tooth drive gear, then you'd need an 18-tooth (gray) driven gear for a 3.27 rear end. If the tranny has an 8-tooth drive gear, then you'd need a 20-tooth (orange) driven gear. Here is the formula for calculating this: # of Driven...

    Starter soleniod??

Good point! I assumed everyone would understand that: A.) This is for the 3G conversion with wiring upgrade. and B.) They should NEVER use the factory power wires when doing the upgrade. But I realize that if I A-S-S-U-M-E this, someone will make an A-S-S out of... THEMSELVES...

    Starter soleniod??

Do you have an aftermarket starter relay? The Motorcraft ones have longer threaded studs then the ones I've seen from parts stores. If you still need to to make room on the stud for the new alternator wires, you could run one 10 ga. wire, with terminal ring, from the relay to a...

How do I check for spark?

You have to turn the engine over to get a spark. That's why. If you have a helper, it's not an issue. If you are working alone, you need to crank the engine somehow, while still looking for the spark in the engine compartment.

How do I check for spark?

When talking about electrical stuff, "jumping" means bypassing a component, or connecting it to an alternative source of power. Jumping the starter relay, in this case means that you are going to energize the starter relay without using the ignition switch. Taking a length of wire, and using...

Single-Key System for the LX Please help me find.

PPI was pretty much the big source for those. They're pretty rare since the single-key lock set was an option on the SSP Mustangs only. They occasionally pop up on eBay, but be prepared to pay BIG bucks !! If you don't mind just having just the ignition and doors with the same key, you can...

    Window trim removal

If you're talking about the metal trim arount the edge of the windshield, there is a special tool needed to remove it without breaking the clips that hold in in place. LRS has it in their printed catalog (couldn't find it online). The cat# is LRS-TX39.

What speedo gear do I need?

First, determine if your speedo is accurate. Zero out your trip odometer as you pass a highway mile marker. Drive 10 miles and note the odometer indication as you pass the 10th mile marker. Then pull your speedo cable out of the tailhousing, and count the number of teeth on the gear on...

What speedo gear do I need?

We can't give you a solid answer with the information you provided. We need to know hown many teeth are on the speedometer drive gear, machined on the output shaft, and what size tires you are running. If your speedometer is correct now, tell us how many teeth are on the speedometer driven...

    GAS MPG ?? Acetone

That is complete :bs: !! Unless your car is tuned for higher octane gas, you are just p!ssing your money away by doing this. Octane rating is the anti-knock capability of the gas, ONLY. It is not a measure of the potential energy it contains. Higher octane gas actually gives up it's...
