Build Thread '83 T-top Coupe - Welding Holes in My Rear

Dave, my sincere condolences for your loss. My best friend is going through the same thing. They did the surgery and all the other things they experiment with. Good luck on the build and that 408 would be a beast.

Nick's "lvndpst" Restoration (and Slight Modification) Thread

When you got the motor did you mess with the cam at all? Timing chain etc. That was what I was referring to with timing events. I truly think it’s a sensor, ignition, vacuum leak,or a myriad of things bahahaha. I am terrible at diagnostic issues. I have little patience with a volt meter etc...

Definitely do all that was mentioned above. Vacuum leak sounds possible still. I wonder about the intake gasket slipping. Very common. Have you cleaned the MAF at all? Also that exploder TB sounds like an issue. That sounds way to small for a 347. What size maf and injectors are you running...

Can you describe the way it runs? Does it idle decently? Does it break apart through out the rpms or just have sluggish delayed acceleration? Are you sure there is no slipped intake gasket or other vacuum leaks? I am with you on electronics I hate diagnostics but I’d start there.

Sorry to hear but I agree with your assessment. Try to make sure it isn’t something you are missing before tuning.

Nope. You don’t have to have adj struts. I would recommend but again if you are never going to race/change the settings, etc then plain Jane struts work fine. The MM coil overs are designed for specific brands(Koni is one of them) so you won’t have much noice/rattling etc. Also I highly...

Those konis are fine for a street car but I wouldn’t over more than 150$ and I might spend 175$ max

Buy a coil over spring setup (maximum Motorsport is what I used) for the front end. You can adjust your ride height and order the proper spring rate for your desired driving. Not the cheapest route but it was the best setup I ever ran on a Fox. I had strange adjustable struts and MM cc plates also.

    Tfs R Series Craigslist Find

Fuel rails and lines are good to around 500rwhp which is arguably above what the stock engine block will take(for any long term use). The other parts you mention are good(60# inj are what I’d use).

    Afr 185 Question

Assuming your data is correct on the actual cr I would use the 9.xx:1 comb chamber(64cc?). You can adjust that slightly with head gasket thickness, camshaft, fuel octane, actual tuning etc etc. No reason a 9.5-10:1cr aluminum headed sbf shouldn’t run fine.

    Tfs R Series Craigslist Find

If your current motor runs fine(ie doesn’t use oil, etc) and all you want is under 450hp or so(which again is more than you will ever need on the street)..just buy the blower and all the accessories needed. Then install that with your heads and any intake you want. To be honest the old tubular...
