    Headswap or New Motor

Try to grab a mach 1 motor or a cobra motor. You'll spend about the same as you would on getting a new 99+ SOHC and it will make more power with the same amount of boost as the SOHC. If you stay N/A for awhile, you'll still have more power. Oh yeah, they have forged cranks, too.

    DynoMax Shorties, 87713, 88713 on a 99+

Shorties are junk. Don't waste your time with them. You'll get 0-5 RWHP. Go for LT's - those are worth 15-20 RWHP.

pictures of 96-98gt with mach 1 motor?

I've got the mach 1 motor but no shaker. I think CDC has a shaker kit our for the 96-98s. Might want to check their website to see if they have pics. At any rate, here's a pic of the mach motor i have.

Looking for impressive N/A power in a '96-'98

    2001 Cobra? New Mach 1?

Not it's not. It's 03 Cobra heads with an 01 Cobra intake. Rated at 305, but make closer to 325-330 HP. Lot of mach's are making 275-285 RWHP totally stock. Aside from the 03 Corba I like the 03/04 mach better than the 99.01 Cobra. It's faster, too.

Shift Kit vs. New Valve Body

A valve body is better. Shift kits artifically raise the line pressure to improve shift firmness. A valve body will not. Not sure how it works really, but I do know a valve body won't result in premature tranny failure. I use a PA S/S valve body.

How much power do i have

Start from 190 RWHP stock. Add about 30 for the heads, 8 for the pullies, 1 for the cold air,and about 5 for the chip(you need a custom tune to really get any power from it.) I'd say you are making about 235-240 RWHP.

    1998 Gt 225 hp BS?

Instead of spending $13-15k on a 13.9 second 99+ GT why not spend 11-12K on a 96-98 Cobra. Sure, stock for stock they run about even with the GT's. But slap in some gears to get them into their powerbands and then the GT is toast. Their is so much more potential in the 4V motors it doesn't make...

    1998 Gt 225 hp BS?

96-97 GT's have 215 HP 285 TQ. 98's have 225 HP and 295 TQ. The difference is a more aggresive computer tune in the 98. Either one is a dog until you do the PI headswap or toss a 4v in there :D

How restrictive are stock headers on 01GT?

Short tube heades aren't worth the money. You'll get about 0-5 RWHP from them. LT's are the way to go- you'll pick up about 15 RWHP.

    my first 4.6 need horsepower

Foxlake just released their P-51 intake for the 4.6 SOHC. TOo bad they don't have one for the DOHC motors :( I'd get: U/D pullies C&L MAF C&L Truflo inlet pipe Foxlake P-51 intake(if it turns out to be any good) MAC LT's MAC O/R h-pipe FMS 4.10 gears(I think 4.56 is insane for an...

    edelbrock

I think they have to be welded to the H-pipe, so they really wouldn't be ideal for a street car. They are more for track only cars. I'd just get MAC LT's. They work good and are cheap. HTS coated-$359, ceramic coated- $429.

    Which car is quicker?

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.........................no. 96-98 Cobra: 305 HP 300 Tq. If the 96-98 makes 260 HP please explain why there are many N/A BOLT-ON(stock heads and cams) 96-98 cobras running mid 11's while there are only a handful of N/A H/C/I/E SOHC GT's barely hitting low 12's??????

    Spurlock Racing rear seat delete

Has anyone bought a rear sear delete from Spurlock Racing? I saw on ebay that he sells them for $55 plus shipping. Just wondering if this is a good guy to buy from and how good his product is. I'm not sure how to post a link. Maybe someone can tell me so I can show everyone what I'm talking about?

    Mac Longtubes?

MAC headers are nice. I used them on GT for a long time and had no trouble with rusting.

    SHM 6.0 L aluminum blocks!!!!

Hmmm.........wonder how that would work with mach 1 heads and cams?? I could use my forged crank from my 4.6L, right? All I would need then would be forged pistons...hmmm........Why drop $4K+ into a blower when you could have a 6.0L DOHC motor for about the same?

    Getting Lt's...what's Good

I believe Hooker headers will allow you to remove the tranny without loosening them up. Not sure of pricing, though. MAC makes some good headers -especailly now that you can get them ceramic coated. They run about $429. Unfortunetly you'll have to to loosen them up to get to the clutch.
