    quick refresher on timing

If it is a timing issue it normal comes from not enough timing. Could be the points if it still has them. If it does, change them and set the dwell correctly then set the timing. 6 deg is the factory setting but 10-15 is what most sbf's like. Then check with a light to be sure that the...

    Exhaust suggestions

I have Flow masters with a X pipe 2.5" all the way back. Sound is great and not bad cruisin. I do have Flow Master 50's not 40's though. I'm thinking of going with 1 3/4" headers myself, What headers do you have. And how much did they cost you. All I can find start at about $850 and go up...

    What Headers for Canfields, ARF

I have Hooker long tubes 1 5/8" on a 65 and am changing heads to Canfields. My question is what are other people running for headers on these heads? It looks to me like 1 5/8" primary tubes will be slightly smaller than the port size. That has to raise h**l with the air flow!

What is max valve lift in 351W with D0OE Heads & Flat Top Pistons?

You HAVE to CHECK it with clay! There is a reason all cam manufactures and piston manufactures always say "Piston to Valve Clearance Must be Checked." To many variables in an engine including cam timing that can change clearances with just a few degrees difference.

convert 2 peice rear main to 1 piece?

Yes, all three were FelPro Seals. Do the 1 piece cranks still have the slinger? If not then I would guess that most of the aftermarket strocker cranks would not have the slinger. This may be the problem.

    Whats The Best 347 Block?

Just took the motor apart and found nothing that looks like it is causing the problem BUT. I used a cast crank from CHP and I have no ideal why this happened. The end play was way over the limit. So I removed the thrust bearing cap and found the crank severly worn. The motor only has 2000...

    Whats The Best 347 Block?

"Terminal" only in that I have replaced it for the third time in the car and can not fix it so I pulled the motor to find this problem. Could it be the crank? Are the stroker cranks the same or is there a differents in the rear main area? Slinger?

convert 2 peice rear main to 1 piece?

I sell CNC machines for a living so getting the block machined will cost me nothing. Just can't find out if it is possible with out weakening the back cap to much. I have replaced the seal 3 times and can not get it to stop leaking. I have checked everything else as the source of the leak and...

Convert 2 piece main seal to 1

I dopped the pan and replaced the seal twice. Even shimed it for a tighter fit (recommended by the engine builder for cronic leakers.) I have checked everything including the flywheel bolts and the intake. The block is dry with no sign of leaking behind the bellhousing on the block side. The...

Convert 2 piece main seal to 1

Can anyone tell me if you can convert a early 2 piece block to a 1 peice rear main seal? I have 347 in a 71 block with a texas sized leak coming out the rear. I pulled the motor and we can find no reason for the rear main to be leaking. Any help would be appreciated

    Whats The Best 347 Block?

I have a 347 that has a terminal oil leak. The engine builder suggests a different block. I currently have a D1 block. I need to get something at the junk yard as I can not afford a Mexican or Boss block. What year did Ford start with the one piece seal? If I use a roller block, can I use a...

    1965 mustang gears..question

First of all you need a T5 tranny or it will not fit properly in a 65-66. The tranny tunnel is smaller. There are ways to make a TKO fit but for your application not worth the hassle IMHO. Get a late model 5.0 bell-housing and a custom cross member. Then you need a custom clutch pivot spacer...

    KRC Pump w/ Factory A/C

I think the feel is just fine, not over boosted at all. For lines, I got them with the rack from RRS. The first time I did this I got a HP line with a fitting for the old Ford pump. Ended up having a custom one made with the a AN fitting and bought a Saginaw GM style to AN adaptor from Jegs...

    RHS Heads vs Canfield?

Thanks "snail". I will give him a call. I have used Cam Research in the past as he has a lot of Ford flow experience but he had a swing and a miss with my 289 convertible cam. It was way to mild and the car dies over 4,000 rpm. I have been looking for another custom cam grinder for a better...

    RHS Heads vs Canfield?

Well I will find out soon as I am having him flow test the Canfields but just judging them visual, I would guess they have a intake port volume in the 215cc plus range and I will be suprised if they flow less than 315. They were on a full tilt vintage race car. Do all Canfields have the raised...
