    It sounds like fuel starvation of some sort, being either vapour lock or fuel line restriction. Can you route the line along the seam where the rocker meets the floor and then up the fire wall?

    Pull the spark plug leads off, yank the distributor out, then start from the beginning. You need fuel, air and spark - at the right time. Did you remove the distributor at some point and do you know the procedure for re-installing it?

    On the 65 you tighten them up untill you run out of thread. The kit usually comes with more fender washers than you need as well.

    So does this mean that anytime you have to drive this car more than two hours you will need a truck and trailer? Why not just drive it at 50-55 MPH? Aren't you supposed to enjoy driving it, or are you buying it for some other reason?

    If you brake really quick and hard, the engine may die due to the torque convertor not unlocking fast enough.

    Yeah, it sounds like your timing is way too advanced, especailly if it only runs on high octane. Your idle knock is probably detenation. Back it off to between 8-10 degrees and try running on regular or midgrade gas.

    If you are going through, say a quart of oil or so per tank of gas, then you may want to dump a can of STP or Motor Honey in it.

    Fix the cooling line and put some fluid in it. The TC probably stayed locked while you were driving and then when you stopped there wasn't enough fluid to get going again.

    Is the vacuum line attatched to the modulator? Mine came off once and I had some very strange shifting starting problems.

    Lost a couple rockers!!!

    I'm not talking about that. I know the main problem was your rockers. But you also said your torque convertor bolt might lightly come in contact with the seperation plate because it is actually is bent up. Fixing your rockers won't magically fix the flex plate.

    I bet that you didn't line up the drain plug on the torque convertor with the hole in the flex plate before snugging it down causing the plate to bow out. Rotate your engine untill you can see the hole in the flex plate (with the dust cover off, if you have one). If you don't see a drain plug...
