Long story short, he took out an entire coil, and my right tire is on the fender now when turning, but the left seems to not be at issue. (But damn I love the stance!)     I used a Duraspark II Dizzy mated with an HEI module (concealed in an aluminum heatsink) works great, looks nearly original and gets a lot of "WTF?" 's once the whole system is explained :nice:

    Check your carb to intake seal. I neglected to torque down two of my carb bolts once, had a similar outcome. Hopefully it's noting worse.

    I usually do 3/8 thick metal in long beads, heavy leather is a must in my trade :D for sheetmetal, thicker cloth will do fine. And ditto on auto-darkeners, they make a world of difference.

    By far my favorite approach to getting some headroom is to stick a thick rim under each tire. Swing by your local boneyards and see if they got some junker duallys or something laying around. If all else fails, weld a few normal rims together. Provides a nice solid base for your tires to sit in...

    As for your heat and wire speed, overhead runs similar to flat, except for the buckshot running down your sleeves :D Don't feel bad, I'm in school for welding and your first whack at overhead never turns out nice. I run my speed and heat slightly lower than flat, just to keep things civilized...

    Ford Newbie - Intake gasket - '68 289 4bbl

    I was working on buttoning up my head swap today, and upon opening my intake gasket box I found that the cork strips for the ends from Fel-Pro have been done away with and replaced with a form-fitting rubber gasket. Has anyone came across these yet? If so, any leaking/problems of any sort?

    I have the white LEDs under the filters, I'm not very happy with it. :notnice: I'd imagine the LEDs would work better without a filter though, they do block some light.

    speedometer funcion

    My speedo cable didn't want to come out of the tranny once. If at first it doesnt play nice, don't force it, turn the engine and try again. Might save you the expense of a new cable :nice: I wish I hadn't learned that one first-hand, shipping parts ruins a "quick" fix
